Mr Moet ticks all the boxes bar one the jock tomorrow but even P Hall surely cant slaughter Mr Moet again

Right Distance right draw class horse over the distance got to go close

Id love to see him bow out of WA racing on a winning note and have a good go on him doing it but P Hall worries me really does

Go Mr Moet il just  bet light on him  due to the Jockey giving me nightmares but sure hope he can win
+1 -1

Mr Moet seems to know his place in the pecking order when it comes to racing against Luckygray. Has he beaten him on another occasion apart than last year's Railway where he got all the favours and-never had to actually sight the majestic grey in the run?

Mr Moet has never beaten Luckygray home, apart from that one time, where he beat him home.  :-\"

Score stands at LG -3 and MM - 1

He doesn't seem to want to-or simply cannot- run past him.

I agree but special punting is not for me with P Hall up fair dinkum he has slaughtered MM last two runs

Ffs take MM to the front they won't outstay him

Il be on MM hate lucky Gray after one of my biggest punts went south on he's remarkable I. That stupid DQ LG never deserved that railway yes I'm holding a grudge lol

All BS aside a great horse LG but MM will get h tomoz

He needs to be in front of LG to beat him is what I'm getting at though. 2100m swings things back in MM's favour from what we have seen so far, but I think LG is looking for 2000m these days. For all he has achieved, he's still only six and could easily race for another 18 months.

Me Moët needs to box seat or lead this riding him back does not work

He has the fitness the staying power to free roll in front let him run up
In the van as in the Caufield Cup he will outstay these on the steel

Put it this way and it probably won't be a huge factor tomorrow .Who would you back in a Caulfield Cup if you had to?MM or LG,it's a non brainer?

The Caulfield Cup is the toughest 2400m race in Australia. I'm not sure 2100m at Ascot is quite the same.

    Just two completely different horses!!

It's getting out to a distance which suits MM now, unchartered territory for the grey, saying that a brilliant miler can win a CC and has ;)

Fawkner was best performed over 1400m before this spring. I'm not taking anything away from his win or his slashing runs in the Turnbull & Melb cup but I was shocked and still am :-O

In all honesty I do respect your opinion on this P.T. and I'm not intending to open up a can of worms with this response.

I'm simply curious to know why your suggesting Mr Moet has supposedly been slaughtered in his last 2 runs.

It's beyond the control of the jockey as to which barrier the horse is allocated and it just so happened that M.M drew 16 of 16 and 11 of 11 for his last 2 runs.

So it certainly limits the options that are available to the jockey and it puts them between a rock and a hard place. Sure you can drop straight back to the rail and ride for luck, but there's no guarantee that the gaps will eventuate and there's every chance you'll get a checkered passage at best in the straight and lose momentum. Sure you might end up getting a dream run through and save ground but on the other hand you may not too.

Or you can cover additional ground and race wider, but at least you get clear galloping room which does benefit a horse like M.M. He's still been running the 2nd or 3rd quickest sectionals of the past two races which does show that he's still been finishing his races off in good time.

As I said I respect your opinion on this 100% but I just think it's a bit harsh to suggest the horse has been slaughtered given the circumstances, that's all ;)

Draw wide on a horse like MM you roll forward not tail off fall asleep knowing there's no pace in the race

It's called initiative P Hall showed none in the last two rides they were shockers totally misjudged the pace in the race or lack of

Exactly - push forward and make your own luck or as @Raff_2000 suggested get caught wide, cover extra ground and really give yourself no hope.

That is of course, unless your Luckygray - the pace is slow and you score an absolute gem of a run

If Moet goes fwd and makes it truly run the 3 yold and the Grey wont run the trip ,MM record over the trip is outstanding  im all over him today and if Hall carves him up again that's Durrants fault for sticking with him but if given every hope and he doesn't run top 2 why bother heading East pretty simple if you cant win these gr-5 races over here why bother over there he hasn't won for 12 months really good horses don't go that long without winning

I can understand where you are all coming from, and yes it does make sense to push forward and create your own luck from out wide.

However the horses natural racing pattern is to drop back and find his feet, before gradually working into the race and saving himself up for one last crack at them.

I suppose it then comes down to a decision of whether or not you put the horse in a more familiar spot (be it on the rail or 3 wide), or throw caution to the wind and push forward to create your own luck.

That's the point I was trying to make in that he's a natural back marker of a horse anyway, and pushing forward is not something the horse is used too.

    Cheers ;)
