We took Tirreno out as well, he will run at Pinjarra over 1200M and then hopefully go onto the Sires Produce.

Damien I thought you said it was going for a spell, after an injury in his last run,and be better suited as a late 2 yo /early 3yo..nothing like putting on excess pressure on the babies.

Had mates that were on at the 100s from Sportingbet. When it drew 18 they were spewing, they'll be spewing blood now :-&

Well that is the very reason why he has been scratched from the Karrakatta Plate. A poor barrier draw would only be asking a huge task even to run into the first half of the race, so rather than bugger the horse completely we will go towards the Sires.  Eric feels he has recovered both quickly from the last run, and the cut near his tendon after being galloped on shortly after the start, has repaired quite well. He was given a searching gallop this morning and had no issues. His runs have been spaced and Eric has no concerns going forward.

too right, got a tip for an english jumps donkey back on australia day from a pommy mate of mine, got on fixed at 19/1 all it had to do was start and it would have finished in the money so im told..... It was scratched from the race we were on in and switched to a race the following day and pi$$ed it in @ 6/4 , My mate didn't tell me and he also got his pre post bet refunded on the race we were on because he is with sky bet priority.

Dan Morton has the strongest team for this race Cadeza should win and Kambalee is a massive chance and Chengdu is tough as nails to after sticking on from leading a hot pace this is his best chance the win this race.

Agree cadenza the one for mine and really like Red Hot Sax back in Mares grade, her last couple of runs have been really good in open company, got its share of weight but drawn nicely so shouldn't have to work overtime to find the front.

Cadenza has to beat history in that no Magic Millions winner has won the Karrakatta Plate. I think Jezpark is going better and I think I have him ahead of Cadenza with Big Caroline the smoky.

Django on the distance step up...breeding would suggest the distance wouldn't be a problem and ideally drawn for the first time over 1200...Cadenza the danger

I think Chengdu will be the first of Dan's runners home.

I like Hobart Jones. Hes been consistent and gets a decent draw here, also the 1200 looks perfect, he ran on well last start after being last on the turn. 3rd up after a little freshen up. Like

Agree, the field lacks the depth of previous years. There's been no headline horse this time in, all the big guns earlier on are in the paddock

I think there are only 2 winning chances in the race being Cadenza and Jezpark both receive weight on most of the field from there previous starts.Jezpark should settle one out one back and Cadenza will race with cover in a midfield position. Both look very well suited at the 1200m.

Four 70+ raters this year - Three last year
Bit hard to get much above 70 off 3 or 4 career starts

The ultimate rating of the Karrakatta Plate is always assessed in the 3yo season following, when horses that have run in the KK have then gone through the Sires and then on as 3yo's which will demonstrate really how much depth there was.

If nothing goes on from those first 5 or 6 across the line in both the KK and Sires Produce, then you know that that year was weak and lacking in depth. Currently I think the crop is mediocre with the real genuine horses of the 2yo season and the 3yo season to follow, as having not clearly identified themselves at this point.

    Last year clearly demonstrated this.

The top 6 placegetters in last years race have had a total of 22 starts between them since the race.
Only 1 has won a race as a 3 yr old.

IMHO the quality of the race should be judged on the day as the likelihood of these immature babies having any career at all beyond the day is pretty slim.

Ms Funovits died going to the barriers of the Sires two weeks later. Petrol Power ran 8th and Lenience who was 13th is probably better now than on that day.

Importantly Camporella who ran third went on to win the Sires, Balmont Girl ran 4th and is now probably the best filly in the State as a 3yo, and  Ihtsahymn ran 6th and will win HOTY honors in WA as a 3yo and they were nowhere to be seen in the KK.

So I think it was a decent enough crop. The current 2yo's haven't produced a dominant horse at this stage and the race is wide open. This year the Sires Produce will throw up another horse or two, and I still think it is too early to say where they lie in quality.

I fully support your theory when it comes to Railway Stakes. That quality should be assessed on the day, but with babies I think you need two seasons.

    Same goes for Golden Slippers.

To me a quality 2 year old can be just that.
Matures a bit earlier than the rest and is a class above the others. The others catch up and it a lot of cases overtake the standout 2 year old.
Just my thoughts, to me that does not diminish its class advantage over the rest on the day as a 2 year old.
Its all very subjective and each persons own thoughts on the matter I suppose  :)

I think about 95% of trainers reckon any of their 2yo runners will be better at 3. I know Ted thinks this about Jezpark and considering he is out of a sister to Lataere it's probably safe to say he will train on.
He hasn't won that convincingly but i see he ran a faster time & last sectional than Fulds Bet and gets in better at the weights. So he's definitely not without a chance
