RACE 1 - WAYNE'S CARPET CLEANING MAIDEN

No. 6 CRISPIANO. A capacity field to kick off the program and plenty with a chance. Going for CRISPIANO who will really appreciate the step up to 1600m. Last time out over 1400m he drew wide, settled back and found the line very nicely, running into a minor placing. From his good draw he should settle much closer and if he repeats his last start effort he is the horse to beat. AMREEKA is the big class dropper, she has raced a bit flat at her first two runs this preparation but if she could find the form from late last year she'd handle these. RANCHER'S GOLD has finished runner up at his last couple of starts, he's limited but from a good draw he's a good chance to finish in the first four. DANECLICKED hasn't been given any favours with the draw but clearly has some ability and should be around the mark.
Numbers 6, 14, 3, 4

RACE 2 - WHALEBACK GOLF COURSE MAIDEN

No. 8 LISETTA. Now this talented filly has had a throat operation hopefully she will be able to bring her "trial form" to the racetrack and finally breakthrough. She has burnt punters previously, starting a clear cut favourite at her last four starts, mainly off the back of some super impressive trial performances. Obviously though something just wasn't right as when the "go button" was being pressed in her races there was nothing there, hopefully the throat operation can rectify this and she can show her best on race day. GOMAMBO has ability and his recent trial win was very good. From barrier 1 he'll get a gun run and finish off strongly. BELOVED ran a very well at her local debut which was expected off the back off a good trial win. She won't be a maiden for too much longer. CRUEL MISTRESS was very disappointing at her latest start, she's better than that and if she could reproduce her first up performance she certainly can play a part.
Numbers 8, 2, 11, 9

RACE 3 - PINJARRA FLORAL MAIDEN HANDICAP

No. 11 NEVER HERE. This looks a very weak race and for that reason giving NEVER HERE just one more chance to breakthrough. She's been a costly horse for punters but this looks her race. The opposition is weak and from barrier 3 with Paul Harvey aboard she should be able to settle in the first few and dominate the race. KEY POSITION will improve sharply from his disappointing last start performance. On that occasion he drew wide, settled back and was never sighted. Prior to that he led and was rundown late at this track. TURFSTAR ran an even race first up behind Bearchat, with natural improvement he'll be competitive. The interesting runner is ZABEEL ROAD who makes his debut for Daniel Morton and William Pike takes the mount. On breeding you'd think he want longer but his trial effort was fair and he could be the one flashing home late.
Numbers 11, 1, 2, 10

RACE 4 - HIPPIE SURF MAIDEN

No. 1 KILAT. Another thin race with limited chances and I think this just might be KILAT's race. He's been teasing of late, running some nice races in better company and he'll appreciate the drop back to maiden grade. Last time out he finished midfield in a Saturday three-year-old event finding the line fairly. He then went back to the trials and put in a sound effort, closing off nicely. He probably just needs to be within striking distance on straightening to beat these. I'M NO EAGLE had every mortal chance to win last start but just came up short in a blanket finish, he'll sit over the speed and be in the finish again. SPEAKING TERMS is the wildcard runner. She didn't get the best of luck at her most recent outing in which she finished midfield behind Desire Path in a city midweek three-year-old event. William Pike goes on for the powerful David Harrison yard so she must be respected.
Numbers 1, 2, 14, 3

RACE 5 - $3 DAY AT PINJARRA PARK ON 28 JULY MAIDEN

No. 13 NAPOLI BEACH. No other way to put it, this is a terrible race. Going for NAPOLI BEACH who was fair first up behind Kelia, he was slow out and was didn't get a heap of moving room early in the straight. He went back to the trials and won fairly and from barrier 6 he should get every chance to breakthrough. SANDANT and FARIDAT are both first up and come out of the same trial in which SANDANT just won. Based on that trial they both have some claims in this.
Numbers 13, 2, 11, 15

RACE 6 - CHICKEN TREAT PINJARRA HANDICAP

No. 3 VERMEER. A much better race and pretty keen on the chances of VERMEER. Off the back of a top trial performances and solid eastern states form he was well thought of in markets for his first up run but ran poorly and finished down the track. Blinkers went on for his next start and he improved sharply, running a close up third behind November Red despite sitting three wide with no cover for the duration, it was a big effort. From barrier 2 he should get a gun run and he looks one of the better bets of the program. SENTIMENTAL STAR is a nice mare who resumes from a spell for new trainers, Ross & Clint Price. She showed in her last campaign that she is a mare with plenty of ability. She was asked for nothing in her trial and I expect her to be out the back early but zooming home late. KEY TO LIFE from barrier 1 should improve sharply from his last two disappointing efforts. He will appreciate getting some cover in running. Plenty of others with some hope as well. A good race but happy to be on VERMEER each way.
Numbers 3*, 9, 6, 13

RACE 7 - HYGAIN HYAGLYDE HANDICAP

No. 3 THE FACTOR. This is a very tricky race to dissect. Going for THE FACTOR who will enjoy not having to bump into Barakey! His first up effort was sound as he was hanging badly in the straight and Chloe Chatfield was unable to ride him out. From barrier 6 I expect him to lead or sit outside the leader and if he can show the form of last preparation he will be hard to get over. Huge watch on FLAME THROWER who is the former Victorian previously trainer by Robert Smerdon and now under the care of Sharon Taylor. His maiden win last preparation at Sandown was dominant and he ran a good race first up last campaign. He resumes with no trial and will probably want further but monitor betting with him. COPY RITES ran fairly first up and William Pike goes on. From a good draw he should park much closer in running and be around the mark. KARDINIA PARK will appreciate the getting back on top of the ground, his best chance would be to roll along in front or settling outside the leader as he doesn't appear to have a turn of foot. LONG TAN LADY is always a chance in this type of event, from her wide draw she'll have to settle close enough to last, don't be surprised to see her ridden for luck poking through on the fence late.
Numbers 3, 2, 4, 8

RACE 8 - HYGAIN MICROSPEED MAIDEN

No. 1 IHT'S ELUSIVE. Race 8 and we have a maiden, unusual! This is a fairly ordinary event; going for IHT'S ELUSIVE who looks well placed to breakthrough for his maiden win. He has run two even races this preparation and with the blinkers being added he should be cherry ripe for this assignment. BLAZING DANE's two performances have been sound, he clearly has claims. NO TOUCHING will appreciate getting back to maiden company, he was simply outclassed in city grade last start. Pretty average race this.
Numbers 1, 5, 4, 3

RACE 9 - MY ATACANTA - STALLION HANDICAP

No. 6 OTTUMWA. A good finish to the day with a few chances. Happy to be on OTTUMWA who looks ready to win now. He ran well behind Avonmore Terrace two starts back and last time was hopelessly unlucky, getting caught behind a couple of gallopers who were stopping. He was effectively eased out of the race. From barrier 1 he'll get a sweet trip and will only need some breaks in the straight to play a major part. BORN TO BE BAD had every chance last time but was a little disappointing but this looks his type of race and he looks well in with Ryan Hill's claim. JOEHOUSEROCK won well last time he raced at this track and distance and he was solid behind Monumental last time out. From his good draw he has obvious claims. FIRST LOT should lead and give them all something to rundown.
Numbers 6*, 1, 13, 8

Isnt the point based NR system with its barrier draw conditions a handicapping system? I mean highest rated horses drawing worse off seems like a handicap

All horses are scanned at the track.  Before they are even saddled up.
