Damian Winn Disqualified
MEDIA RELEASE - BOY MAMBO
RWWA Stewards today concluded the inquiry into a report from the ChemCentre in Perth, that caffeine and its metabolites had been detected in the post race urine sample taken from BOY MAMBO after it won Race 7, the Westspeed Stayer?s Bonus Handicap (2100m) at Belmont on Wednesday, 25 May 2011.
Trainer Mr Damian Winn pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 for presenting BOY MAMBO to race at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday, 25 May 2011 with the prohibited substances caffeine and its metabolites theobromine and theophylline being detected in the post race urine sample taken from the gelding.
Further, Mr Winn pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178F for failing to keep a record of treatment for BOY MAMBO.
In considering penalty Stewards took into account Mr Winn?s:
Guilty plea and forthright manner in which he dealt with the inquiry
The seriousness of the charges
Blemish free record since holding a Trainer?s Licence for three (3) years
The circumstances that lead to the positive swab
In relation to the charge under AR178 Mr Winn was disqualified for a period of five (5) months effective immediately.
In relation to the charge under AR178F Mr Winn was fined the sum of $500.

Isnt the point based NR system with its barrier draw conditions a handicapping system? I mean highest rated horses drawing worse off seems like a handicap

I dont think it matters when they run,,Crowds and turnover is something in the past.. I dont have the answer. I watch at home and punt. Last time I went to G.P would have been 12 months ago to catch up with fellow trotting people..before I went to the Inters.....
