Gumby's Gossip - Belmont Park Saturday 23rd July
A terrific days racing at Belmont today, with two great feature races, the Belmont Classic and Beaufine Stakes featuring some of our best up and coming three year olds in the classic, and some terrific shortcourse sprinters in the Beaufine.
Race 1 - playeronline.com.au Handicap
Amelias Dancer should get the program off to the right start for favourite punters here, has been holding her form well and stepping up to the 2200m, he looks suited in this small field. The main danger should be Hibernian who got lost back in the ruck last start, will no doubt race a bit closer in this event. Cara Carabini and Speedymac look the best of the rest.
Numbers- 1-7-6-3
Suggested Bet- 1 Amelias Dancer- Win
Race 2 - Westspeed Nursery Handicap
Nice two year old race here that will make punters think before investing on the race, the 59kgs allotted to Flying Affair, against the wide barrier for Pattie Me Lass that was a stride from defeating her two weeks ago, and the promise shown by the Giesel Park filly Queen of Qunicy. Will go with Pattie on an each way basis here, as the weight that Flying Affair has to carry is enormous, even for a late season two year old. Hard to fault the form of Jacobyte also in a good race.
Numbers- 11-1-2-12
Suggested Bet - 11 Pattie Me Lass- Each Way
Race 3 - Super Saturday at Ascot on 19 November Handicap
Will go with Ten Aces to break through here on the back of some recent good form and the claim for apprentice Michael Grantham. Other chances appear to be Moonbound, back 200metres in distance after disappointing last week, Saytorio who steps up in distance here, so maybe a query, and Gum Nut Guru, who has shown good consistent form this campaign.
Numbers- 1-5-6-4
Suggested Bet - 1 Ten Aces Each Way
Race 4 - Rangeview Stud Handicap- 1200metres
The promising Oratorio gelding Like An Eagle gets his chance to bring up his second career win here, has been racing in stronger company at his last two starts and back to the 1200 metres with the services of William Pike looks the testing material. Rouge Dior has been kind to punters who have followed her lately and should be the main danger. Last start winners Troy Can and Gavins Road should be around the place as may Pribyl, a nice last start second to Gavins Road in a midweek event.
Numbers- 7-1-2-5
Suggested Bet- 7 Like An Eagle- Win
Race 5 - Perth Racing Christmas In July 30/7 Handicap
The most open affair if the day here, but forced into a selection will go for Kerrific, good track and distance form, well drawn, down in the weights and with a win on a slow track if the going is rain affected. Many other chances though, amongst them the consistent Broome Time and Zester, plus last start winners in Ocean Cracker and Lie In Wait.
Numbers- 9-5-14-13
Suggested Bet - 9 Kerrific- Each Way
Race 6 - Belmont Classic- 2200m
Terrific race here which pits the colts and geldings out of the Dayana Classic against the fillies fresh from the Belmont Oaks two weeks ago, so it can be hard to line up the form of the respective sexes in this race. Will stick with the gelding Black Moment who was highly impressive in the Dayana to just nose out Miss Tipsy Topsy in this race. Stormy Scene, Ladysea and a possible improver in Robinho loom as the main dangers in a really interesting race.
Numbers- 1-10-2-13
Suggested Bet- 1- Black Moment- Win
Race 7 - Beaufine Stakes - 1000metres
How good is this race with several quality horses engaged in what should be a great spectacle, one of the highlights of the winter racing season. For Your Eyes only is a class horse, a first up specialist and 4 from 4 at the 1000metres, so will put her in to blouse out the up and comer All Friared Up, very impressive first up two weeks ago, but up in class and drawn wide in this. Kid Chiosir is down 6.5kgs on its last start, Ma Ma Machine is also a shortcourse specialist and Blacksmith may be hard to catch if he leads, all in all a great race coming up here.
Numbers- 2-6-4-1
Suggested Bet - 2 For Your Eyes Only- Each Way
Race 8 - tabtouch.mobi Handicap- 1400m
A tough race to ìget outî on if you are behind coming into the last event. Answers Are has been going well for the Kersley stable so maybe a good each way bet in this. Battle Ace was a good last start midweek winner, Taxtime races wll first up, and Rose Of May will also be a good each way chance after beginning poorly last start.
Numbers- 7-12-2-16
Suggested Bet- 7 Answers Are- Each Way

Isnt the point based NR system with its barrier draw conditions a handicapping system? I mean highest rated horses drawing worse off seems like a handicap
