Gumby's Gossip Pinjarra 28th July
Its the last meeting of the season at Pinjarra today, and looms as a very tough day for punters with big fields and the possibility of a rain affected track so tread very warily when investing on this meeting.
Race 1- Read it in the Mail Maiden- 1200 metres
A nice tough 2 year old maiden to kick things off here. Will go with Ma Mariah simply because of a good barrier draw in this even field. Two starts for two fourths so far, so hoping with that experience she may go well here. The dangers are numerous, certainly if Ken's Business gets a start it will provide stiff opposition, and possibly Flying Metal and Endorsed could be around the place.
Numbers- 12-17-3-11
Suggested Bet- 12 Ma Mariah - Each Way
Race 2- Mandurah Mail Classifieds Maiden- 1300 metres
Gomambo has promising form and gets its chance to bring up its maiden win in this event, a last start third at the track two weeks ago augers well for its chances here. Jinnaman with a nice draw, and a claim for apprentice Ryan Hill may be value in this race, Sylvan Cee Tee and Dawn Raider may also run well here.
Numbers- 2-7-9-10
Suggested Bet- 2- Gomambo - Each Way
Race 3- Rural Press Maiden- 1300 metres
Straleta could be one of the better bets of the day here, a very nice first up fourth at Belmont is good form for a race like this, the filly was also coming off two trial wins previous to that. Winalago is an extremely consistent mare and could be the main danger, with Viridian Sky and Rosalie Park chances for the minor end of the prize.
Numbers- 12-6-10-1
Suggested Bet- 12- Straleta - Win
Race 4- Racing Returns to Pinjarra Park 16th Oct Maiden- 1600 metres
Im No Eagle has been knocking on the door at its last three starts and looks the goods here, the 1600m shouldn't pose any problems and should break through. Dangers are possibly Girlcan from the Wolfe stable, which was scratched from Belmont yesterday and saved for this race, Nothin' Leic it and Pupu Tupuna, but they may struggle to match the Ballantyne trained gelding in the end.
Numbers- 1-10-2-11
Suggested Bet- 1- Im No Eagle- Win
Race 5- Editor's Cut Handicap- 1500 metres
A very open affair here with lots of chances, but will go with First Lot who has a good record at the track, and also good form in its preceding few starts, however with one win from 19 starts its not a race to invest heavily on. McTango could provide the main opposition if it can overcome a wide barrier, with Rubitrove and Zebook the next best, and maybe Dandy's Boy a roughie at good odds. All in all its a very tough race to line up with most horses not having great strike rates.
Numbers- 1-2-9-3
Suggested Bet- No Bet
Race 6- Mandurah Mail Sports Maiden- 2000 metres
A maiden over 2000m immediately rings alarm bells, and this is no exception. Fair Hunter has been promising at its first three starts and if is handles the step up in distance might be a nice each way chance here. Dangers are a plenty in a race like this but will go with The Ramada, Mon Buscuit and Ajexia to fill the minors.
Numbers- 7-5-1-14
Suggested Bet- 7- Fair Hunter- Each Way
Race 7- Mandurah Mail Handicap- 1400 metres
The main event of the day and a good feature race to see out the Pinjarra season here. The Albany trained Jagabout has been very consistent lately and looks suited in this race, has been holding its form very well, with Rose Of May very hard to beat also. Kim Coin is 1 for 1 at this track ,and Resurgent at nice each way odds. Best race of the day here.
Numbers- 9-4-1-6
Suggested Bet- 9- Jagabout - Each Way
Race 8- "Robbie" celebrating 25 years at Pinjarra Park Handicap- 1300 metres
The last race at Pinjarra for the season, and not an easy one to finish for punters. Possibly Rivale Boy each way in this event, with What Do You Know the big danger, this filly has won both its starts at the track. After that possibly Iht's Elusive may run into the placings, if it can overcome the horror barrier draw, but will obviously need luck in running. Lone Princess might also be a maddie in the last, a winner at the track and nicely drawn.
Numbers- 2-12-4-14
Suggested Bet- 2- Rivale Boy- Each Way
BEST BETS- Race 3 Straleta- No 12
Race 4 Im No Eagle- No 1

Isnt the point based NR system with its barrier draw conditions a handicapping system? I mean highest rated horses drawing worse off seems like a handicap

All horses are scanned at the track. Before they are even saddled up.
