Form Analysis Belmont 3rd August
RACE 1 - WESTSPEED 3YO HANDICAP
No. 8 PUBLIC PERCEPTION. I'm pretty confident we start with a winner here. The Charge Forward filly PUBLIC PERCEPTION resumes from a spell and she should be very hard to beat. She showed enough in her first campaign to say she has more than her fair share of ability, with her highlight being a dominant 4 length win at her third start when blinkers were added. She has had two trials to tune her up for her return and her last start effort over 950m at Lark Hill was lovely viewing. She got back to last but ran into third placing despite being under a throttle hold by Troy Turner. She's a filly with a touch of class I think she will take care of these first up. PRINCESS DEIRDRE resumes from a spell without a trial but she is a filly with ability. Her debut win up the Pinjarra straight back in March was full of merit and she did beat a subsequent winner, Pure Heaven. From barrier 1 she can either lead or box seat. LORD ELVSTROEM went back to the trials after his debut and with the blinkers being added he was an impressive winner showing a good turn of foot. HAZED VISION goes quick and he'll burn over from his wide gate and should be included in all multiples. PINS OF DARKNESS is an interesting runner, he made his debut in the Perth Stakes but finished tailed off after pulling up sore. I don't normally take too much from the 400m trials but he won it easily and looks set for good first up showing. HOT SASSO was disappointing at her last start but if she could bring her trial form to the track she would be more than competitive.
Numbers 8*, 11, 6, 10
Suggested Bet - Keen here- Public Perception Win
RACE 2 - WESTSPEED STAYERS' BONUS HANDICAP
No. 2 CARA CARABINI. This race has had a dramatic change in complexion with the scratching of AMHERST, he looked a massive chance. With him out, CARA CARABINI now does stand out as clearly the horse to beat. He was a top winner two starts back, beating subsequent winner, Dark Vision and last start ran a solid fourth in Saturday company. He got put into the race at the 800m bust just couldn't sustain the effort. Back to midweek company he should be too good these. Finding the dangers is actually tricky. MASTER SIN has won a solitary race from 43 starts so you'd have to be brave to jump into him, although his last effort behind Dark Vision was solid. He probably should fill a hole. CLASSY CLAN could be the improver, he should just be about ready now and DHEKA is a battler but should be thereabouts.
Numbers 2, 5, 10, 9
Suggested Bet - Cara Carabini win @ $2.50
RACE 3 - playeronline.com.au HANDICAP
No. 3 DANISH TAPESTY. I found this a very tough race to put the finger on the winner. I ended up settling on DANISH TAPESTRY on an each way basis. There were a couple of things against her last start, the month between runs and the drop back to 1200m clearly didn't suit. Prior to that she ran well behind Red Geisha over 1400m. From barrier 4 she'll get a lovely trip and with the blinkers being added hopefully that might just give her that little edge. ONE COOL QUEEN is a hard mare to follow but she has to be respected in midweek fillies and mares grade, especially with Paul Harvey aboard. LIGHTNING SKY broke through for an overdue win at Northam at her most recent outing, it was fairly dominant and it wouldn't surprise to see her go on with it now. JOBETH is another who will appreciate the step up to a mile. Not a very easy race.
Numbers 3, 1, 8, 2
Suggested Bet - Only if you must Danish Tapestry each way
RACE 4 - racingjobs.com.au HANDICAP
No. 2 GALLIPOLI PRINCE. They rode GALLPOLI PRINCE back last start and he appeared to really appreciate it, storming home down the middle of the track for a very soft win at Northam over a mile. From his wide gate he'll go back again and if he repeats his effort from Northam he should be able to round them up and make it back to back wins. SINGLE WARRIOR will appreciate dropping back to the mile after racing in the Dayana and the Belmont Classic. His wins at Pinjarra over 1500m and Northam over the mile were solid and both were on rain affected surfaces. FLYING FALCON rattled home at his last start back on 29 June, he's a horse with ability but who has been hard to follow. William Pike sticks so he has to be respected.
Numbers 2, 7, 12, 9
Suggested Bet - Gallipoli Prince win @ $3 plus & Multiples anchoring 2 & 7
RACE 5 - tabtouch.mobi HANDICAP
No. 7 READY RAIDER. This four-year-old make resumes from a spell for his new trainer, Simon Miller. In his first campaign he showed plenty of early toe and was nabbed late in both of his race track starts and ran second. His recent barrier trial win was very good, he showed a good turn of foot and came clear for a easy win. Paul Harvey goes on for this first up assignment and I expect him to settle in the first few and be very hard to beat. KEY HEDGE was a top maiden winner at his last start at Northam, parking three and four wide over the speed but still drawing clear late. William Pike goes on and a repeat performance will see him in the finish. UNION CITY has been disappointing since his debut but he'll appreciate dropping back to 1000m and with Hayley Diener's claim he looks well weighted. CHESTER ROAD will likely find this too short but he should hitting the line hard, his recent trial win was good.
Numbers 7, 5, 2, 10
Suggested Bet - Ready Raider each way @ $3.50
RACE 6 - WA COMMUNITY PHARMACY HANDICAP
No. 1 PRINCESS GRANDERA. Good little sprint for the mares and a lot will hinge on whether PRINCESS GRANDERA can cross and get one off the fence without spending too many petrol tickets. She has her hoof firmly planted on the till after putting in two big performances where she has sat three wide no cover on top of the speed but refused to lie down and run close up seconds. She has drawn wide again but if she can get over then I think she will make a winning debut for her new trainer, Trevor Andrews. UNDERCOVER LIZZY trialled super going into her first up performance so it was no surprise to see her finding line hard and running into the skinny end of the placings. She's probably looking for further and from her wide draw she'll have to settle back but if they go very quick upfront she is chance at blowing them away late. COUTURE CHIK got the job done first up at Northam, she sat over the speed, took the lead early in the straight and just held off the talented Snuff Gruffles. From barrier 2 she'll get a gun run and with improvement from her first up run she can play a part. GRACEFUL CHARLI hasn't been given any favours from the draw but with some luck she'll be around the mark.
Numbers 1, 4, 6, 5
Suggested Bet - Princess Grandera each way @ $3.50
RACE 7 - perthracing.com.au HANDICAP
No. 17 CASSIDY COWBOY. This looks one of the trickiest races of the day, there appears to be plenty of chances. I'm going for Cassidy COWBOY but not with a great deal of confidence. He disappointed on debut at Northam but ran a much better race at his next start, finishing 1 and ½ lengths behind the talented Like An Eagle. From barrier 3 he should get a gun run and he looks to have solid each way claims. COUGAR TOWN is mare with ability, she finished nicely first up in a race dominated by speed horses and last start was never a chance after getting back and having to make a wide run. Not sure that barrier 1 is a great for her as she will get back, but if she can find some space in the straight she should really find the line. CAPITAL ACCOUNT was a massive at Northam last start, settling back and wide and blowing his rivals away in the straight. Will be interesting if he can repeat that. The well bred mare BONTIARA took the length of the straight to get up at Northam but she looks a progressive type, the barrier makes it tricky though. FOXY BELLE is a blowout chance at odds, she has shown ability in previous campaigns and was asked for nothing in a recent trial. SOONEST is still a maiden but he shouldn't be for too much longer. Very tricky race.
Numbers 17, 14, 10, 2
Suggested Bet - None recommended, if you must Cassidy Cowboy each way.
RACE 8 - CALL TAB TO BET 132 369 HANDICAP
No. 14 PRINCE TED. It looks a fairly open race to finish the day. I thought the first up effort of PRINCE TED was full of merit. He was caught wide in a race with a hot speed but battled on well to be beaten less than 2 lengths. He will need some luck from his gate but if he can settle midfield with some cover I think he will finish off very hard in this race at nice each way prices. NARVADA LAD looks the obvious pick in the race as he should get a gun run from an inside draw, I just suspect he might be under the odds. PRIBYL will appreciate dropping back to midweek company and from barrier 2 will settle right over the speed and give a kick. TRICKY SYD was a good first up winner and looks a horse with some ability. A few gallopers with convictions next to their names in this and going to steer clear of them and go the up and comers.
Numbers 14, 8, 11, 12
Suggested Bet - something small Prince Ted each way

Isnt the point based NR system with its barrier draw conditions a handicapping system? I mean highest rated horses drawing worse off seems like a handicap
