The real story of The Cup
With the story of Damien Oliver and Media Puzzle's history making Cup win in 2002 about to hit the big screen next month, its a timely reminder of just what an incredible moment in Australian sporting history that moment was.
We as West Australians, moreso than most, probably hold the achievment up there with the best. As a punter who was on course that day at Flemington, I can say that for me, it was the greatest sporting moment of all time.
Having backed Vinnie Roe to win the cup and seeing Oliver looming on the bend aboard Media Puzzle, my ticket went in the air, as did many around me. For a punter to toss a live ticket in running is a rare thing, particularly since my horse was still in front!
As Oliver went past the line on Media Puzzle, there was electricity. Its something that can't be explained, only felt. It was the most amazing and emotional moment and it spanned across more than 100,000 people who were at Flemington that day.

I dont think it matters when they run,,Crowds and turnover is something in the past.. I dont have the answer. I watch at home and punt. Last time I went to G.P would have been 12 months ago to catch up with fellow trotting people..before I went to the Inters.....
