Media Release Grant Lemos
RWWA Stewards today inquired into the conduct of Jockey Grant Lemos at the Broome Cup race meeting held on 13 August 2011, prior to the running of Race 1. Jockey Grant Lemos was requested to provide a routine urine sample which led to questioning with respect to the sample provided and his subsequent conduct which resulted in him being replaced from his mounts for that day and being stood down pursuant to LR10 until the completion of the inquiry.
Evidence was taken from Jockey Grant Lemos, Chief Steward Mr Brad Lewis, Steward Mr Doug Mead and RWWA Principal Investigator Mr Phil O'Reilly. Jockey Grant Lemos requested and was granted permission for Trainer Mr Fred Kersley to be in attendance.
Jockey Lemos pleaded guilty to a charge under AR83(a) for misconduct in that he used loud and abusive language in the vicinity of the Stewards Room.
Further Jockey Lemos was charged under AR175(j) for improper behaviour in that he threatened with violence RWWA Principal Investigator Mr Phil O'Reilly who was carrying out his official duties.
Jockey Lemos was also charged under AR175(t) for obstructing the Stewards in the exercise of their powers by taking without consent, items namely a beaker containing a volume of urine, a heat pack and a murine bottle seized by the Stewards in relation to a urine test taken from him.
Jockey Lemos requested and was granted an adjournment to seek legal advice in relation to these charges.
Stewards adjourned the inquiry until Monday, 5 September 2011 at 10am in the Ascot Stewards Room at the Ascot Racecourse.

Isnt the point based NR system with its barrier draw conditions a handicapping system? I mean highest rated horses drawing worse off seems like a handicap

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
