Tips for Lee Steere Stakes Day
Race 1:
The two year olds are not my forte, so I'll keep it short and sweet. Spice Again shows tons of promise on the trial track and the Bell, Meadowcroft, Miller combination hardly know what its like to lose. Fuddle De Duddle ran a great race first up behind Miss Solis, another from the above stable. Will take a stab on Fath Six for third. The market is likely to be short Spice Again and Fuddle Dee Duddle.

Race 2:
A good staying race with decent pace from It's Judgement Day, View the Stars and Classy Clan as the back up if they decide to dawdle. Liked the runs of both Mr Moet and Come Party two starts ago behind Jappaloop. Both had interrupted runs where Jappaloop was ridden a treat by Parnham and took all the right runs. Mr Moet has since won (Tuesday) and while the margin was slim, he was doing it easy on the line. Senhor Da Gama may be ridden aggressively like he was two starts ago when he won. Sitting third the fence and over racing didnt suit him last start. All in all, there should be good pace and that will suit Mr Moet and Come Party. Hard to split them, but we'll go Mr Moet, Come Party and Sehnor Da Gama. A small knock on Jappaloop again, but he has seriously done nothing wrong.
Suggested Bet: Mr Moet, save on Come Party.
Race 3:
Full Clip led and prevailed over Gracetown just a week ago. He may lead again here and the 1200m might just suit him a little better than last week's 1000m. Watermans Bay was impressive winning at Belmont in the winter before getting well out of his ground and running on well before spelling. His trial was good, despite the fifth placing on paper. Final Cut is a smokey in this, was given no chance last start and ridden more patiently can figure at the business end. Knuckey goes back aboard.True Gold won well enough at Bunbury and the horse he beat, Hidden Dreams, has also come out and won again. The Williams stable is almost unbeatable at the moment and that may explain the price that is probably much shorter than it should be. Watermans Bay, Full Clip, True Gold (smokey Final Cut).

Race 4:
Barakey just wins.
Suggested Bet: run Barakey through your all ups and trebles to fatten up the dividend.
Race 5:
This is a great race. King Saul and Ron's Call were most impressive last start in their respective races. I still think Shining Knight is going to progress into a top class animal, but this week, he has his work cut out. Ron's Call should lead after they experimented with going back last start. He got trapped wide but had too much class. He wont be able to sit wide here with the explosive King Saul, box seating with Donger aboard. Shady Bet, on paper, must be close to King Saul after sitting wide and being beaten 2 lens, but the market will say something very different. Rebel Call has blinkers added and may get trapped wide from the barrier, if not, working into the breeze. King Saul for me, his sprint is devastating and I think he has more up the sleeve. Very tight call, but just on top of Ron's Call and Shining Knight for third, who will have to make up many lengths on the top two.
Suggested Bet: Each way either King Saul or Ron's Call, whichever you fancy at those prices. King Saul for me.
Race 6:
Another shallow race for mine. Waratah's Secret leads and the danger Grand Nirvana will have to go back. If the big boy can march them from the half way point, he can nullify their closing sectionals and probably win this easily, much like he did in the Scahill last year. Much like the last race, Kid Choisir on paper, has to be pretty close to Waratah's and Grand Nirvana, based on his last run. But the market will have him much longer. He's clearly third best for me. Waratah's Secret, Grand Nirvana, Kid Choisir.
Suggested Bet: Waratah's Secret win
Race 7:
There are some massive prices avaialble in this race about well performed horses such as Sunrange, Sentenza, New Spice and even Guest Wing. There should be decent pace from the likes of Mega Steel, Sunrange and Rocky Range. I found it hard to go past Western Jewel, even though she is a tad short in the market now. She's probably unlucky not to have won her last two over 1400m. First up she was blocked and ridden poorly and second up the pace didnt give her any chance at all. She rattled home both times. Pike goes on, down 4kg, Grant Williams/ Bob Peters....say no more. She's no certainty, but she pretty much picks herself. Mega Steel can give some cheek in front and drops in class from top company. He can carry weight, but many of these are on or close to the minimum, making it hard. Sunrange's two runs this campaign do not justify his huge price of $51 and the trial of New Spice was good enough to justify a few dollars on him at $81. Knightlike and Big Ted have disappointed at their last two but can improve. A watch on whether or not Seize Control starts (2nd emergency). If he does, especially with a kid aboard, he can create a hot speed, which will bring the likes of Peg's Pride, Manila I Scream, Double Barrel and Malaika into the race, all of whom are drawn wide.
Suggested Bet: Western Jewel each way, she is the class.
Race 8:
Solsay was ridden out of the barriers to lead last start but then it looked as if Ikenushi was in two minds. Eventually he got outside the leader but ended up taking on the high cruising speed Pin Rouge throughout. They ran the fastest of three 1200m races for the day and just how Solsay managed to hang on for second, was amazing. They had a fortune on him that day aswell, so thats a good lead into how he was going. There's no one to pressure him here and he should get an easy lead. Thunderluv'n had the race handed to him on a platter by Imacitinpretty last week, but he won with authority. Best Feature was unlucky not to win second up and was taking ground off Moonlight Bay and finishing best of anything in that race. Pike goes on, but he will have to run some pretty smart sectionals to catch Solsay here. El Yong has been killing them at Gero, but it is the bush and this is a different class. Military Secret improved out of sight last start, but again, may have been flattered by the blistering up front speed. Solsay, Best Feature, Thunderluv'n.
Suggested Bet: Solsay each way.

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
