Gumbys Gossip - Pinjarra 1st December
GUMBYS GOSSIP- Pinjarra- 1st December
Nine events at Pinjarra today on what should be a really good day for racing, it would be nice under the shady trees with a quiet ale in hand if you can get down to the track this afternoon. A couple of good bets early in the card, then a few later on at good each way odds may hopefully bring a few dollars into the punters coffers by days end.
Race 1- Pinjarra Golf Club Maiden- 1600metres
Prophet of War has put the writing on the wall his last few starts and gets his chance to break his maiden status here today. He raced over the 1600m distance here at Pinjarra at his last start when third to Boxo'Chocolats and really does get his chance to post a victory today, having steadily improved at his four race starts. The main danger may be Keen and Able who boasts a similar form line, however is yet to race over the mile or at this track, so that might be the difference in the end in this race. Another with claims must be Master Robson, who has run about the place at his last few starts, and being by Blackfriars would appear to be looking for the extra ground in this event. One at nice odds may be Foo Keima who played up at the barriers at her first start in a race, and also raced wide that day, she could very well improve here at what should be nice each way odds. Cape Command may be another to throw into novelties as well.
Numbers- 2-1-5-12
Suggested Bet- 2- Prophet Of War- Win
Race 2- Chicken Treat Pinjarra Maiden- 1600metres
We can probably get on Galiletto here with some confidence. This Dan Morton trained galloper has only the two race starts to his CV but they have been most promising, including a second to Boxo'Chocolats in that same race as Prophet of War here two weeks ago over the mile distance. Having only been beaten half a length that day, all indications are he will be improved today and ready to give you a great sight for your money. The main opposition looks to be from Opera Seria, who ran a nice second at Northam at her second race start a couple of weeks ago. The wide draw is probably of little concern over the 1600 metre Pinjarra start so she should certainly be in the firing line at the finish of this race, she is up in distance today but you would imagine she must be up to it, if Morton has entered her for a race over the mile at only her third start. They look to be the two main chances clearly in this event. For novelty punters possibly I'm No Eagle may improve a little today, he did run fourth over this distance as favourite during the winter months but has disappointed since, so hoping he can show some of that older form today, and maybe a good each way proposition may be Felway on his nice third here two starts ago on 6th Nov.
Numbers- 2-12-1-8
Suggested Bet- 2- Galiletto- Win
Race 3- Josephine's Salon De Beaute Maiden- 1200metres
A tougher race here to declare anything a winner, with a lot of these very inexperienced at the track, and conversely a few of them who have started numerous times are yet to break the ice. I will go with Dangerous Dane to possibly salute here on the strength of her last few runs, but you would need to tread warily backing a 15 start maiden. She also has to overcome a wide barrier draw, but in a field where not much form is exposed she will be the on top selection. One I tipped last start on the strength of some good trial form is Paws'N'Claws, he did a few things wrong at his first race start but might be worth following him up at what will probably be a good price today, he will come into barrier seven with the probable scratching of the emergencies, so certainly keep a watch on this gelding. Nova Park should be about the place, and may possibly start favourite here, if you go on his second at Northam two starts ago he comes into calculations today, with newcomer Clever I Am, a recent trial winner, another with each way claims in a very open affair.
Numbers- 9-5-7-4
Suggested Bet- 5- Paws'N'Claws- A small each way inverstment
Race 4- Pinjarra Floral Design Maiden-1200metres
Another very tough maiden race here, probably best to leave it alone or invest very frugally if having a bet. Will tip Royal Rhapsody on the strength of her first up third at Bunbury on 20 Nov, following on some reasonable trial form. She is drawn the inside today so should hopefully gain a nice run and be thereabouts at the finish of the race. Another who ran a nice race at her first race start is Rosie Redlips, who is drawn alongside Royal Rhapsody in barrier two, she was only beaten a length by Happymusk at her first race start and may improve on that today. I Say Sasso does have a placing at Ascot to her credit back on Melbourne Cup day, and followed that up when beaten only a two lengths at Northam at her last start. The two Durrah's may be next best, Durrahmoore warmed up for a return to racing with a trial win on Nov 14, she did run a couple of nice races in the winter at her first race campaign, and the disappointing Durrah's Secret, yet to break through in 15 starts may also be around the place again, he does mix his form though.
Numbers- 6-10-11-5
Suggested Bet- No Bet
Race 5- Hippie Surf Maiden- 1000metres
Another maiden race with plenty of chances, but we will look at the exposed race form here and go for Bromance to be victorious today. He ran a nice first up second for trainer Graham Yuill back on Nov 10, and with a nice draw at the tough 1000metre start can give daughter Kyra a winning ride here. This Flying Pegasus gelding did show promise at the trails prior to that start and is a good chance to go on with things today. Cagey Boy has also shown some promise at his first three starts in somewhat tougher fields than this, but must overcome a wide draw today, which sways me in favour of Bromance in this. Silvercity Girl ran some nice races when last in work in the winter, and won a trial in preparation for her return to racing a few days ago, with possibly Da Verrazzano another with claims, she has also been racing in stronger city company, and will appreciate the drop in class here.
Numbers- 1-2-8-10
Suggested Bet- 1- Bromance- Win
Race 6- Jeffrey Financial Services Handicap- 2000metres
Another very difficult race here, and Ive gone for one that will certainly be good each way value in Traxa. She does only boast a very moderate strike rate of one win in 21 starts, but I just think she may relish the step up to 2000metres today, and at very good each way odds could be worth a small investment. Her last couple of starts have been quite good, including a last start fourth to Counter Offer here on Nov 6, and in what is a very moderate field should run a good race. Pippaline will probably start favourite today, and if you forgive her last start must come into calculations, blinkers go on her in this race as well, an interesting gear change. Catdancer has run some nice races lately, and is another stepping up to the 2000metres today, the 4kgs claim for apprentice Felicity Ives may even prove crucial in a very even race, and Zebook is another that very rarely wins, but is always around the place, and he has been racing consistently over this distance.
Numbers- 6-3-2-4
Suggested Bet- 6- Traxa- Each Way
Race 7- Mandurah Stockfeeds Handicap- 1400metres
Happymusk has improved markedly at her last two starts culminating in a maiden victory here two weeks ago, and given further improvement might go on with it today. She has drawn wide in this event but hopefully can get across and race in a prominent position once again for jockey Chloe Chatfield and give punters a good sight. She steps up to the 1400 metre journey today and looms as a good each way chance in this. The other one to watch could be the former Darwinian horse Golden Shekels, who showed great form in the territory before relocating to the West. His first up fifth to Thyme For Business at Ascot was an indication of better things to come further into this campaign. Kardinia Park has also raced reasonably consistently in his winter campaign, and the Lindsey Smith/Paul Harvey combination makes you take some notice as well as a nice inside draw in this. Tribulette also won her maiden last start and will be worthwhile including in novelty bets on this race.
Numbers- 6-4-5-7
Suggested Bet- 6- Happymusk - Each Way
Race 8- Regency Foods Country Challenge Qualifying Heat- 1200metres
The feature event of the day here and plenty of chances in a good race. I will go for Army Miss at what may be nice each way odds to continue on with her good form here for trainer Brett Larsson. This Zedrich mare won well at Ascot back on 19th Oct, and then ran a close fourth in King Points race at Bunbury a couple of weeks ago, she has been up for a while but seems to be holding her form, and has the nice draw in barrier two today, and the services of 3kg claiming apprentice Alex Hearn to bring her back to 55.5kgs here. Striking Guru could be another to watch out for at each way odds, he boasts an impressive first up record, as well as a good record here at Pinjarra. Obviously will improve as his distances increase but just may be a good chance here first up and fresh. Private O'Dea showed glimpses of things to possibly come last campaign with a couple of placings at Belmont over the winter season, and may also go well first up this time in for trainer Chris Gangemi. Talent Show was another who showed some promising form over the winter months and can give a sight for novelty punters if he can overcome the widest barrier today, with Dance Works the possible favourite and Develish Intent others with claims in a very good race.
Numbers- 4-3-6-11
Suggested Bet- 4- Army Miss- Each Way
Race 8- Mandurah Mail Handicap- 1600metres
A good but tough event to get out on here, so will go with recently exposed form and tip Counter Offer for the Webster stable in this. This Trade Fair mare has only been unplaced once in seven career starts, and is coming off a good win over Margaret Street at this track on Nov 6 over this distance. The wide barrier isn't a great concern at the 1600metre start with the long run down the back straight to negotiate, and she looks a nice each way bet in this. Mac It Is may prove to be the main danger on the back of some good runs lately, his last start second here to Carlton Street was full of merit, so he should go well today. Flirtista also boasts some nice recent form over similar distances and comes in well here with the claim for Alex Hearn, and possibly Goose can improve today, he is well down in class on his last few runs at Ascot, coming out of the Miss Tipsy Topsy race on Nov 12th, so certainly keep an eye out for the Goose to improve today. De Spare is another with some good form behind his name culminating in a good maiden win last start, a possibility for novelty punters also in a race with some good exposed form.
Numbers- 10-5-7-4
Suggested Bet- 10- Counter Offer- Each Way
Best Bets- Race 1 No 2 Prophet Of War
Race 2 No 2 Galiletto
Each Way- Race 6 No 6 Traxa

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
