UTC2 goes to Plastered in epic showdown

| Mon 5 December, 2011

The UTC final played out in dramatic circumstances on one of the biggest days of the year at the Kingston Town Classic meeting at Ascot.

In a face off that went down to the wire, Plastered prevailed over Golos 16-15 in a nailbiter that came down to the last race.

Golos had been the overall competition leader since well back in September and was only knocked off that pedestal in the final few weeks by Jay Rooney from The West Australian and Jeanne and The Cracker in the final few weeks.

Plastered started off well, peppering that elusive winner with Riobresa (2nd), Thunderluvn (3rd) and Keepers Court (2nd) before breaking the duck with Latoria. This gave Plastered the early break on Golos but Golos was to fight back, tipping Grand Nirvana in the Scahill to close the gap.

It all came down to the last, Plastered tipping Dante's Diamond and Golos on Caves Road. It was 3/4 lengths that decided the match, with Caves Road missing out by that margin and Dante's Diamond falling into third and splitting the decision.

Well done to Mark Millington (Plastered), Perth's Ultimate Tipping Champion.

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
