Hoops Tips for Pinjarra 11th Jan
RACE 1 -PROGRAMMED PROPERTY SERVICES MAIDEN 1200m
No. 2 MINICANO. I'm pretty confident we can kick off the day with a winner. (2) MINICANO should be too good for this field. He's been runner-up in four of his six career starts including a narrow first up defeat when I don't think he was suited being strung up on the inside. From his wide gate I think he should be keep out of trouble and get over these. (11) SPEAKING TERMS is a mare with some ability. She was no chance first up in a race dominated by the leaders. From a better draw she should park much closer and looks the main danger. (1) MONEY CZAR is limited and he's had plenty of chances but he looks a solid top four prospect. (5) RICHIE won his trial and beat a nice horse. He was ridden out in the straight but he should improve on some lacklustre performances from last campaign.
Numbers 2, 11, 1, 5
Suggested Bet - Minicano win
RACE 2 - REGENCY FOOD MAIDEN 1200m
No. 10 ANGEL WING. This is a maiden with a bit of intrigue as we have a couple of debutantes who appear to have ability. However, I'm sticking with the race track form and going for (10) ANGEL WING. She is a daughter of the former very smart race mare, Avenida Madero and by going by her debut she appears to have inherited some of her mum's ability. She was a moral beaten first up when she was held up for the majority of the straight and only went down by an eyelash. She should get all the favours in running from her inside draw and just needs to see some daylight early in the straight and she should be hard to beat. (7) RACK ‘EM UP is a first starter for Lindsay Smith to be ridden by Paul Harvey. His recent trial effort was a real eye catcher and I expect he'll be in the finish. (8) YOUNG LIONEL makes his debut for the Luciani team. He was also put in an eye catching effort in his trial performance. He'll probably settle back and be steaming home late. (9) I'M A NATURAL looks the other main chance. He appreciate drawing barrier 1 as he was forced to race three wide the trip at his most recent outing.
Numbers 10, 7, 9, 8
Suggested Bet - Angel Wing win
RACE 3 - PROGRAM CORPORATE IMAGING MAIDEN 1200m
No. 5 POP CULTURE. This is another good maiden event with some depth to the field. I think the best horse in this race is (5) POP CULTURE and if she is on her best manners at the starting gates she should be very hard to beat. She was a late scratching first up after refusing to load and she went back to the trials and won in an impressive fashion. She might just have a class edge on these. (9) EMIRATES LASS put in a big debut performance when she settled at the rear, circled the field and was beaten nose. From a better gate she can settle much closer and I think she has genuine each way claims. If (7) I SAY SASSO could reproduce the effort from two starts back she has big claims. That day they rode her cold and she found the line strongly behind Miss Dandy. I suspect from a wide gate they might try the same tactics. (8) BABY GLAM was very game last start, sitting over a quick tempo and only getting swamped late. She clearly has claims as does (6) FOO FLYER who has been a narrow runner up at both his efforts this preparation and is the other to consider.
Numbers 5, 9, 7, 8
Suggested Bet - Pop Culture each way if odds permit
RACE 4 - MEDIC AID MAIDEN 1600m
No. 12 IT'S A GIRL THING. A capacity line-up is likely to face the starter for this 1600m maiden and on paper I didn't find it the easiest of events. Without a great deal of confidence I'm going for (12) IT'S A GIRL THING. She hasn't had much luck at her last couple of starts and she will also really appreciate the drop back to maiden company. Paul Harvey goes on and she looks the testing material. (9) PRINCE CHARMING is looking for the mile. He was beaten a fair way at his most recent outing but was certainly doing his best work late. From barrier 2 he gets all the favours in running and should be in the finish. There are plenty of other chances and trying to line them up in some type of numerical order is tricky. (15) REDOUT'S DIAMOND will need luck from the draw but her last couple of efforts have been solid. (6)NAMISUKI could be the value runner. He didn't get much luck on debut and was doing his best work late. From barrier (1) CAPE COMMAND should box seat, from there he definitely has claims.
Numbers 12, 9, 15, 6
Suggested Bet - None recommended
RACE 5 - JOHN CHALMERS BLOODSTOCK SERVICES HANDICAP 2000m
No. 2 SHOT OF GLORY. I'm sticking with the last start winner, (2) SHOT OF GLORY in this provincial staying event. There was good money for him at his most recent outing and he didn't let his backers down, parking just behind the speed and coming clear late for a good win. He does rise a couple of kilos but offsetting that to a degree is the fact he has drawn to get a gun run in transit. (6) OUR VINCENT is still a maiden but he does have ability and appears to be looking for a trip. He was forced to race wide throughout at his most recent and it was a solid effort to fight on for third. (5) NO SONG NO SUPPER is second up over 2000m but going by his first up run he's looking for the trip. (7) ENDLESS SACRIFICE had every mortal at her last start at Narrogin but only ground to the line, the 2000m should suit.
Numbers 2, 6, 5, 7
Suggested Bet - None recommended
RACE 6 - GATE BAR & BISTRO PUB TAB HANDICAP 1000M
No. 5 EPIRB. The first of the straight races for the day and it does look a pretty competitive line-up. I like the two horses who are resuming (3) KELIA and (5) EPIRB and on basis that Peter Knuckey is riding the latter and he has drawn the right side of the track I'll go his way. He is first up with no trial but Adam Durrant normally has them ready to go fresh. We saw last campaign this galloper win his two starts in convincing style. He should be set for a profitable campaign. (3) KELIA has huge claims. In his first campaign he won his first two starts and then ran very well in Saturday company at his next three starts. His recent trial performance was very good and he should be hard to beat. Next best (2) HABOOB who excels over the track and distance and (4) AL SHAMARDAL was skittled at his most recent outing, he also has a good record up the straight.
Numbers 5, 3, 2, 4
Suggested Bet - Epirb win and Kelia save
RACE 7 - SANDY COVE TAVERN HANDICAP 1000m
No. 4 DARK TRYST. Good luck to Darren Macauley trying to call this! And good luck to the punters in trying to find the winner! There certainly does appear to be a heap of chances. I'll go for (4) DARK TRYST off the back of a very good trial win. He has disappointed in his two runs back but hopefully the freshen up has done him well. If he found the form from his first preparation he would be hard to beat. The stable mate (8) LUCY LAMPLADY could be the blowout at big prices. She has a good fresh card and although she finished last at her recent trial she did appear to be getting held up by a tiring runner and just jogged to the line. Last campaign fresh she ran a slashing second over 1000m at Ascot. (9) ALVARES broke through at Narrogin last week and in doing so he beat a talented horse in Painted. They did space the rest so I think that form will stack up for an event like this. (10) GINGERVATE only win came up the straight. She resumes from a spell, has drawn the right alley and has Paul Harvey aboard. (14) TROPICAL SPICE and (15) TALK AND TEASE are both last start winners' in maiden company over this course. Go wide.
Numbers 4, 8, 9, 14
Suggested Bet - None recommended
RACE 8 -CHASE BAR & BISTRO HANDICAP 1400m
No. 15 CRISPIANO. We finish the day with another tough race, on paper there looks to be a host of chances. I've settled on (15) CRISPIANO on an each way basis. He showed ability last preparation including an emphatic win over a staying trip at his last run before a spell. He resumes off a very good trial performance and I think he will really be finding the line strongly over the concluding stages. (2) HEART PLAY has plenty of ability and he looks well in for the claim or Joseph Azzopardi. This is a big drop in class from his first up effort and his last start at this track produced a big win. I think he will be sharp improver. (9) AHOY CALYPSO should appreciate the freshen up and the drop back to provincial class. She will settle close to the speed and give a big kick. (3) BORN T BE BAD has had plenty of chances but he always has solid each way claims in these type of events. He is ticking over nicely. (12) EASTERN TWISTER looks just about ready to fire and the blinkers have been added to sharpen him up. Back the winner of this you should head home a winner.
Numbers - 15, 2, 9, 3
Suggested Bet - None recommended

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
