Pinjarra Preview 29/01
RACE 1 – CLARK RUBBER HAVE FUN HANDICAP MAIDEN 1000m
No. 5 DARLINGTON ABBEY. I haven’t been that impressed with race brigade in this two-year-old event therefore I’ll be speculating on the first starters. (5) DARLINGTON ABBEY showed blistering speed in her 400m trial win. It’s hard to take too much from them but she hails from a stable renowned producing good juveniles, for that reason she gets the nod. (8) LADY CARRIE was asked for nothing in her 400m trial. Again, she is from a strong stable, so watch betting. I’ll then throw in the two raced horses, (1) EXPRESS SERVICE and (3) GUESSING GAME. They both looked limited but must have some chance on what we have seen to date.
Numbers – 5, 8, 1, 3
Suggested Bet – None recommended
RACE 2 – CLARK RUBBER MEMORY FOAM MAIDEN 1000m
No. 10 EMPRESS OF IRELAND. Another event that is chock full of trial form so trying to line it all up is difficult. I’ll go for (10) EMPRESS OF IRELAND who beat Elsa’s Girl in her trial win (that filly won on Thursday at Bunbury) and was impressive in doing so. The blinkers go on for her debut and I expect her to be in the firing line for plenty of the event. (9) AMPED did little in her first preparation but she trialled very nicely recently. I wouldn’t be surprised to see rocketing late. (2) RIO EXPRESS’ debut effort was good. He copped some buffeting but fought on well to the line. (12) MOVIE QUEEN did get pushed out in her trial but she did finish nicely. Others to consider are (5) LET’S GO FRANK and (6) THE PARK DANCER who both trialled solidly.
Numbers – 10, 9, 2, 5
Suggested Bet – None recommended
RACE 3 – CLARK RUBBER MATS AND MATTING MAIDEN
No. 1 LET’S LIGHTEN UP. If (1) LET’S LIGHTEN UP can repeat his debut performance he will be fairly hard to beat in this three-year-old sprint. He did a mountain of work softening up the favourite, taking the lead and just being unable to hold off the winner who had the soft run. He’s drawn the right side and he should be hard beat. Huge watch in this race for (2) BUSTER’S EMPIRE who makes his debut for the David Harrison yard with Paul Harvey to ride. He ran fifth at his most recent trial but was asked absolutely nothing. (9) LEGGY BLONDE was doing her best work late on debut. She drops back to 1000m which is a slight concern but if she can position up near the outside rail she is chance of storming over them late. (13) NOT AN ACT hasn’t trialled since September but that effort was encouraging
Numbers – 1, 2, 9, 13
Suggested Bet – Let’s Lighten Up win and Buster’s Empire save if odds allow
RACE 4 – CLARK RUBBER FOAM MATTRESS MAIDEN 1000m
No. 12 FLYING FORAY. Race 4 and the fourth consecutive 1000m straight race for the maidens. However, this is a good race as it does contain plenty of depth. I’ll go for (12) FLYING FORAY who resumes from a spell off the back of a very impressive trial win. He did little in first campaign but hopefully he has matured in the break. (9) SEQUALO SYSTEM is very close to a win. He was touched off in a two horse war with Secret Ruler. Pretty good form line for a maiden (2) FIGHTING THE BLUES is the interesting runner. In his first campaign he ran a couple of seconds to a couple of handy gallopers. If he is near the mark fitness wise he should give the race a big shake. (1) SATELLITE CITY has had a stack of chances but he will win one of these one day!
Numbers – 12, 9, 2, 1
Suggested Bet – None recommended
RACE 5 – CLARK RUBBER UTE MATTING MAIDEN 1400m
No. 1 STRAWBERRY BEAU. On paper this looks the special of the day. (1) STRAWBERRY BEAU should take care of these and break his maiden tag. All his racing to date has been in city class and he has put in a couple of slashing performance in those events. He obviously had no luck at all last start when he was hemmed away on the fence and blocked the entire straight. The step up to 1400m should suit as will the wide draw as he can just park wide and stay out of trouble. He should be too good for these. (5) TELLEM YA DREAMIN was heavily backed on his local debut but he bungled the start and lost all hope. Provided he jumps with them he should be in the mix. (10) IT’S A GIRL THING has had numerous chances but been unable to crack it. She has solid top four claims again.
Numbers – 1, 5, 10, 3
Suggested Bet – Strawberry Beau win
RACE 6 – CLARK RUBBER ‘AUSTRALIA’S LOCAL POOL SHOP MAIDEN 1400m
No. 8 MISS HEINEKIN. This looks a very tough race with little form to work with. Without much confidence I’ll go for (8) MISS HEINEKIN who does have the form on the board to win the race with placings at her last couple. A repeat effort sees her go close. (3) MY DEPARTURE ran a solid race first up from a spell behind a couple of talented types. (9) LET’S BUY IHT is limited but has found the right race. (12) REDOUBT’S DIAMOND was poor last time out but if she can repeat her effort from two starts back then she’d go close. Not a race I’ll be getting involved in!
Numbers 8, 3, 9, 12
Suggested Bet – None recommended
RACE 7 – COOL CLARKEE HANDICAP 2000m
No. 3 CRISPIANO. I’m happy to play here. (3) CRISPIANO was scratched from what looked a tougher assignment on Thursday to be saved for this and he should be very hard to beat. He first up effort when he finished powerfully over the 1400m was a real eye catcher and although he gets to 2000m at only his second run back from a spell I suspect his class should see him get the job done. Last campaign his only start over a staying trip produced a dominant win. Of the rest (10) TEDDY’S MATE is going OK, he narrowly defeated Our Vincent at his most recent outing and that gelding won on Thursday. (8) JAZZ ‘N’ SHIRAZ ran her typical honest race last start in much better standard of event than this but her only problem is she finds very hard to win. (2) SUPER HAWK when on song can always produce a big finish.
Numbers 3, 10, 8, 2
Suggested Bet – Crispiano win
RACE 8 – CLARK RUBBER THE RUBBER EXPERTS HANDICAP 1600m
No. 2 WHALAH. I found this is a very tough race with many winning chances. I’ve come back to (2) WHALAH despite his poor winning strike rate. He is going well at the moment and back to provincial level should suit. As we all know this bloke has no turn of foot so his best chance is to be ridden ‘ugly’ on top of the speed which looks a distinct possibility from gate 4. (6) SPILLANE is similar to Whalah in the fact he is a one paced grinder. He sat wide last start but simply out plugged his rivals at his most recent outing. He can do the same in this event. (1) KINCORA is always some type of chance in these events as is (3) CYCLONE BELLA.
Numbers – 2, 6, 1, 3
Suggested Bet – None recommended
RACE 9 – CLARK RUBBER COOL POOL HANDICAP 1400m
No. 10 FINNEGANS GOLD. This looks to be a very open race and value could be the key. I thought the effort of (10) FINNEGANS GOLD was very good last start, sitting no closer than four wide in running, taking the lead early in the straight but peaking late after the wide run took its toll. With a softer run I think he can play a part at each way prices. (1) GALLIPOLI PRINCE was a big winner at Mt Barker when he stormed over them late with a big weight. If he can stay in clear galloping room then he’ll be in the finish. (7) POLLY OLLIE rattled home two starts back at Albany and he then never saw any daylight at his most recent outing. He’s a chance. (5)WINDINTHEPILLOWS probably wasn’t suited by the tight Mt Barker circuit last start. If he repeats his effort behind Shawaim he’s a definite chance. (9) FAIR HUNTER is a nice horse who has trialled well. He’ll be looking for further than 1400m but he could be the one rattling late.
Numbers – 10, 1, 7, 5
Suggested Bet – Finnegans Gold each way
RACE 10 – CLARK RUBBER THE HOME OF FOAM HANDICAP 1200m
No. 9 TALK UP A STORM. A terrific finish to the day with a race chock full of chances. I’m pretty happy to be on (9) TALK UP A STORM who I think is a mare with some ability. Her win last campaign when beating Sequalo System was very good and her recent trial was a top performance. She then was well backed first up but never saw any daylight in the straight and went to the line under a hand brake. A middle gate suits as she should stay out of trouble and I think she could represent some good value. (10) TROPICAL SPICE has come back to racing in good form and was luckless last start up the straight. Drawn well she’s in the mix. The blinkers certainly did the trick with (4) KUNUNURRA last start as he improved out of sight from his first up effort. (1) MOMENT OF LOVE has ability and trialled OK. With a soft run he could finish off strongly.
Numbers – 9, 10, 4, 1
Suggested Bet – Talk Up A Storm each way

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
