Tips for Ascot 10th of March
Race 1:
This race is much wider than the market will probably dictate. Looking Ahead will be the favourite one would think but I'm not getting too excited about the race she won over Strike Two and Barrett. Another Holdup has had two good chances to win a race already. Keg Mouse is on the improve and ran a good race behind Miss Solis last week but has to back up here. Keeper Quiet on the other hand has had more than a month between runs after a decent debut. Pike has chosen Keg Mouse ahead of Our Maxy Boy, so that is a decent lead. Keg Mouse, Keeper Quiet, Looking Ahead.
No Bet.
Race 2:
This is a good little race with Wild Charger coming off a sizeable mohth gap after failing at the shorter journey. He's a good horse who obviously has some problems. Gum Nut Guru has had no luck at his first two runs. Back to the 1200m is the concern for me however. I like Impatient Times. His trial was excellent and his first up run is generally very good. He and Saytorio should share the lead. I think Sonny Biscay may hand up with Yuill aboard. Dante's Alert will be rattling at the end but I was slightly disappointed in his last run although finishing close up. Impatient Times, Wild Charger, Gum Nut Guru.
Suggested Bet: Impatient Times at the $6 available.
Race 3:
Here is a race with some strong early mail. Ive liked the trials of Can't Hartley Wait and the win at Bunbury was over a horse that has performed well in Saturday class. Amusement Park was a bit weak after falling in at her debut in the midweeks. There is a significant gear change here however, the tongue tie goes on and Simon Miller would have only put it on for good reason. Don't be surprised if she improves substantially here. Irma La Dane has strong claims here, especially with the pace that looks likely from Can't Hartley Wait, Jacobyte and even Full Clip. Fonzarelli is the smokey at big odds. Ill stick with Cant Hartley Wait, Amusement Park and Irma La Dane.

Race 4:
The favourite and likely leader, Rouge Dior is the late scratching and turns this race on it's head. Miss Vinnoire was poorly handled by the apprentice last time out and the senior back on will be a big plus. Canardly Miss joins the stables of Justin Warwick, but may not be out to bust a gut first up. Watch the market as always. Elle Choisit is first up and goes ok fresh and Kim Classic has conquered tougher fields than this in the past. Pearlesque is a bit of a non winner for mine, but is a real threat in this kind of company. Miss Vinnoire, Pearlesque, Kim Classic.
No Bet
Race 5:
Once again Belora looked the likely favourite but he comes out. Black Felix was the best run in a year last time out and was unlucky to run into Bites the Dust in red hot form. He's not one of mine, so its hard to tip him with confidence. Harvey goes onto Miss Tahitian and her run was just fair in the same race. Those are the two i have clearly on top. Knight Fury should stride forward again and give some cheek. Horses like Miss Condition, Dempsey and Oscar Wildly are "just going" at the moment. There is a lack of pace in this race so I expect Knight Fury and Lie in Wait to be up the front. This could be the recipe for an upset. Black Felix, Miss Tahitian, Knight Fury.
No Bet
Race 6:
Solsay and Shawaim should ensure a genuine pace in this. That will bring Babieca Noire right into the race and with his first up record, despite the 58kg, he'll be hard to beat. Epirb will get the pie run from four but he does rise sharply in weight. Du Printemps probably should have been awarded the race he lost to Lee Rani after being slapped on the head with her whip while she bore out on him. Drawn three he'll be right in the finish. incoherent, while a terrible run first up, is much better than the $31 he is rated at. Worth a spec at those odds. Babieca Noire, Epirb, Du Printemps.
Suggested Bet: Each way Babieca noire, spec on Incoherent.
Race 7:
Plain Lucky returned to WA with a narrow win in a three way go at Pinjarra up the straight. His runs in Melbourne were just runs. He'll be the favourite and has his work cut out with 59kg and drawn wide. Silent Hero is in some of the best form of his career. His win was good two starts ago and then had no luck last start behind Endless Time. Im tipping him to win. Red Mercedes is also racing well but will need luck with Ryan Hill drawn 11. South Boulder Boy can give some cheek in front and Catlantic always seems to find a way to get beaten. In Faith did the bullocking work outside the leader to set the race up for Sir Hallowell last week. The back up and the rise in weight are a concern, but yuill should give him a good run. Silent Hero, Plain Lucky, Red Mercedes.
Suggested Bet: Silent Hero each way
Race 8:
Disco Bling has been in super form this campaign but this will be his biggest test with Diener aboard. O'Donnell has been riding him a treat and this is a massive riding change. Great'n'grey was the object of good support last start but I though his run was ordinary. Striking Guru beat a woeful field and this represents a substantial rise in quality of oposition. Paterson got lost on Burin last start, getting back to dead last after having a great possie midfield. If he can hold up a bit better this week, Burin is the value. Proud Hero smashed them last start. he's a bit of a pretender but on that run, is the worthy favourite in this. The 1800m should be to his liking. The Other Harv falls into the same category, but the latest run was good. Hawkeye Mort wasnt a bad run first up at 2100. He was ridden like he couldnt win and back to the 1800m, might just give a bit of cheek here. Proud Hero, Burin, Disco Bling.
Suggested Bet: Each way Burin, spec on Hawkeye Mort.

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
