Belmont tips 12th May - Bolton Sprint Day
Race 1:
The two year old event looks to have a bit more depth than last weeks version. Wombie's Legacy surely won't go around again after winning on Wednesday. I gave Snide Remark and Your Buy a chance at toppling Miss Solis last time out. The latter probably should have, racing wide from barrier four. Master Panon and Brocky's Deal come out of a weaker race in my opinion, so I'll tip Your Buy, Snide Remark and the trial form of Military Hero.
Suggested Bet: Your Buy if you can get each way.
Race 2:
Kalahaar will be all the rage here and rightly so after sitting wide and powering in the last 100m to make it two from two. The way he got home, the 1400m can only suit. Pure Heaven backs up from Wednesday, if she goes around. she'll probably lead with Kalahaar to her outside. If she comes out, Kalahaar will probably lead and win. Mendicity had every hope to beat Divine Hero last start and will get the pie run again here. True Gold will appreciate the 1400m while Pattie Me Lass is the forgotten horse. She's a big price at double figures with the query being first up at 1400m with no trial.Kalahaar, True Gold, Pattie Me Lass.
Suggested Bet: Kalahaar at evens or better. Spec each way on Pattie Me Lass.
Race 3:
Its a pretty woeful race and Mr Moet was given absolutely no chance last start going back to last the fence. They ran the first 1000m in about 1 minute and 8 seconds. The Kens Double race wasnt much better, no wonder he dashed away and won with a leg in the air! Ridden more positively, Mr Moet will win this. Kens Double is a lay for that reason and he's also a query at the mile. King Point and Kens Double should ensure a decent pace, but then again, anything can happen in these races. The Come Party race last week was an embarrassment. Dempsey comes back to his grade and can figure here despite the rise in weight. Likewise, Whiting suits Star Buck and can improve with a box seat ride. Mr Moet, Dempsey, King Point.
Suggested Bet: Pretty confident Mr Moet if ridden right. Each way at over $3.
Race 4:
Its an ordinary mile affair. Cyber Crime came of some fair form from NSW to brain a weak lot first up at Northam. I would be discounting the ease of his win, but for the fact he sat wide. It was pretty authorative. If he can reproduce that or improve on it, he'll win. Devilish Intent goes well fresh, but his best runs last campaign were box seating with W Pike aboard. He'll have to go back here. Arctic Ocean had no luck in the apprentices challenge and will improve at the mile. Starlight Lady has a good second up card and Come Flirt With Me is the improver. He has had no luck this campaign and should get that from barrier 1. I prefer a senior on board however. Cyber Crime, Arctic Ocean, Come Flirt With Me.
Suggested Bet: Cyber crime each way at the $3.50 available. Save each way on Come Flirt With Me.
Race 5:
Almachino will start the favourite in his 1400m event and for the third week running, Im going to knock her. While the run was pretty good outside Solsay last week, she'll have to improve again here. Her run before that she fell in over Ave The Snip. Some credit to her though as she is racing against the older horses. Pin Rouge should lead here. He missed the start, then over raced badly in the same race behind Solsay. He needs to lead and roll and Parnham rides him correctly perhaps 50% of the time. If he doesnt fight him here, he'll run in the first three for sure so the $7 each way is a bet to nothing. Stompin is the danger, back to the 1400m after being tested and over racing at the 2100m. This is the query for me, but sitting back with pace on will suit his strong finish. Follow The Road is the smokey as long as they put some pace on up front. He also finished close up behind Solsay after weaving through the field. Pin Rouge, Stompin, Almachino.
Suggested Bet: Each Way Pin Rouge.
Race 6:
What looked like a dreadful race on paper, turned out to be a decent race after doing the form. Dante's Diamond and King Kool Kat will probably be up front in this. Ive come back to Ego's Dare and Avante, the two from the Williams stable. Ego's Dare raced in predominantly group and listed company in Vic and NSW before a tack on campaign to contest the Winterbottom, in which he had no luck. His trial was good, but so was that of Avante who is a mad fresh horse and has the blinkers added. I like these two clear of anything else. Cavallo Pazzo and Zester both ran good races behind Barakey, but I dont believe they are up to the class of the former two. Hadabeclorka carries the huge weight and while not impossible, he'll find it hard first up. Our Ol Fella you can have. Egos Dare, Avante, Cavallo Pazzo.
Suggested Bet: Back Egos Dare and Avante win only. Ego's Dare if you're picking one only.
Race 7:
This is a terrible race. Luminol will lead and the ride last start was incredible, almost choking the horse down in front. Brad Parnham will surely learn from that and let the horse gallop this week. In front and running at a decent clip, the horse is over the odds. Seth's Blessed tried to steal it and probably should have after kicking a few clear on straightening. Even so, with the 53kg, he has to be right in this race. Scrapindipity will get the run of the race again, but Pike lifted it last start and he is replace by Meeres. Crispiano probably ran the best race in that terrible race to watch, coming from last and looking the winner with 150m to go. I dont like the horse, but he has good claims here. Once A Week is a strange one. Definitely the best stayer here, she's second up at 2000m after wedging in two trials. The trial she won easily was in blinkers and they are removed fro this run. Not sure what to make of that, but Durrant can definitely pull something like this off. The market is the key however. Follow the money if they come for her, she's $14 at present. Tennessy ran a decent race last week but I cant be tipping him at all. Crispiano, Scrapindipity, Seths Blessed.
Suggested BEt: Once a Week only if the money comes for her.
Race 8:
Its a really tough race to finish up on and a good race too. The pace will come from Texan and hopefully Zip Code, who really needs to lead. If there is better than steady pace up front, Babeica Noire comes right into this race. It was a good run behind Raucous Laughter and was wide prior to that. He does need a better than even pace though. Silver Trader had all the dogs barking first up but ran like the same old Silver Trader. while the run wasnt bad, he wont be getting mine again. Roman Knows was extremely impressive in fast time at the trials. He didnt really beat much last campaign, but was in winning form. On The Boil is one that can improve but you'd need to be getting near $18 or $19. Texan has claims again but a query over the bias in that race where he and Cassidy Cowboy cleared out. Money for CAsh also has claims if the pace is on. Tough race where we'll guess for a good pace and go for Babeica Noire, Texan and Roman Knows.
Suggested Bet: Babeica Noire at $8.

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
