New Manager Appointed for Magic Millions Perth
Magic Millions has announced the appointment of David Houston as Perth Manager.
With a lifetime of experience in the equine industry, Houston comes well credentialed to replace long time manager Murray Tillett who has taken up a post at Woodside Park Stud in Victoria.
Houston, 54, was born in a family with strong thoroughbred links in New South Wales and ever since has been a respected member of the horse community.
"My family has raced horses for many years and I actually bred my first horse when I was just 13 - so you could say I've been in the industry for my entire life."
A former stud manager at Baramul Stud, when owned by the Antico family, as well as Rob Ferguson's Torryburn Stud, Houston has been linked with members of the Magic Millions family for some time.
"After my time at Baramul and Torryburn, I helped establish Burnewang North property for David Hains before working with Mike Becker at Independent Stallions," Houston added.
Houston will take up his position in Perth shortly and will oversee the company's Winter Thoroughbred Sale in July.
"Western Australia is a very progressive state and it looks an ideal place to be based to represent Magic Millions."
"The state has a proud history and it continually produces outstanding gallopers - including Placid Ark, Scenic Blast, Northerly, Hay List, Miss Andretti and Scenic Shot."
"It is a great opportunity for me to be representing Magic Millions in Western Australia and work closely with the local and growing industry. I'm really looking forward to building on the relationships I have formed with West Australians over the years and also meeting everyone else involved."
"It's very exciting," Houston summed up.
Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said the company was thrilled to have secured a highly respected industry member to represent the team.
"Western Australia is one of the premier producing areas of the country for racetrack superstars and Magic Millions is proud of the links we have with the industry and we look forward to this continuing into the future."
"David has a lifetime of experience in the industry and he looks a fitting replacement for our long serving Perth manager Murray Tillett who is moving to Victoria soon."
"We thank Murray for his tireless efforts over many years - he is extremely well respected around Perth and we wish him luck in the future in his move to Victoria."
"Magic Millions is committed to Western Australia with plans well underway for a new selling complex, hopefully at Ascot," Cox summed up.
The next sale in Perth, the Magic Millions Winter Thoroughbred Sale, will be held at Belmont on July 29. Entries for this sale are closing soon and an entry form can be found online at magicmillions.com.au.

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
