GUMBYS GOSSIP- Pinjarra- Thursday 28th June

Country racing continues at Pinjarra this afternoon with nine events, hopefully the track hasn't taken too much moisture from the recent rains and we can see some good racing.

Race 1- WA Bookmakers Maiden- 1200metres
Flying Time looks to have ability, his only race start was a very handy fifth to the super filly Miss Solis at Ascot, on that run he looks to be extremely hard to beat here today. Rusty Peaches easily won a trial last week at Lark Hill, so it may pay to consider him at his first race start this afternoon. Gold Broker looks another chance here, has been racing in stronger company at Belmont of late, as has Magic Halo, so expect both of these to run good races in a more suitable field this afternoon.

Race 2- Pinjarra Traders Maiden- 1200metres
Tough race this one, possibly Really Sleek if you are having an investment, last couple of starts have been good runs when placed in Northam maidens, deserves to break through shortly, today might be the day. Angel Wing is another getting close to winning her maiden, runner up behind Two Fish Heads at her last start down here two weeks ago, not as well drawn as Really Sleek today though, which may be a factor in the end. Black Romeo is one that should improve on his recent efforts today, now having his fourth race start, and Lunar Ice may be around the place today, still a maiden after 33 starts but always around the place without winning.

Race 3- Tuckey's Hardware Pinjarra Maiden- 1200metres
Tilla Chance may record his first victory today at his return to racing, he did run placings behind a couple of promising gallopers in his last campaign and has drawn well in a big field for his first up assignment today. Bahadur has been quite impressive of late, his last two runs have been runners up placings at Northam and he should carry on that sort of form here today. One to watch from the powerful Simon Miller stable may be Mia China Doll, he has been trialling impressively of late, and another at good odds may be Paws'N'Claws, he started favourite at his first race start on the back of some good trial form but disappointed, he has also had the benefit of a spell since then and races first up in a new campaign this afternoon.

Race 4- Alan Squire Maiden- 1600metres
Temples looks to be ready to finally win a race today, he has run into a few good gallopers of late that have just got the better of him, it looks like the 1600metres will suit him and he has drawn perfectly today, he must go very close in this field. I Have A Dream ran a terrific race first up in the state last week, and if running up to that form would be a good chance here also. They do look to be the major winning chances in this race, maybe Blitz'em and Quilty Lad who have both been running pretty good races just behind the placegetters of late, could be the best of the remainder in this race.

Race 5- Statewide Oil Maiden- 1600metres
Just Hoping was quite disappointing last start at Belmont, dropping out at the end of that 2000metre race, his previous form was top class though, and the trainer did state he thought the distance was maybe too far for him that day. Back to 1600metres today, hopefully we will see the real Just Hoping and he can win this race if we do. Confianza has run a couple of good races of late at Belmont, and back to provincial company today can also run well in this race. A couple of others going pretty well at the moment in Invidious and Master Robson can run the best of the remainder here, both have run a few placings of late and represent good each way value today, certainly should be included in novelty bets.

Race 6- Gate Bar and Bistro Handicap- 1400metres
Cappuccino Time has been racing very well in this campaign with two third placings, one of those to subsequent Belmont Saturday winner Frenchman, he looks a very good winning chance today and a good ride for Kyra Yuill. Hallowell Angel won well last start and looks to have a bright future, certainly a chance to make it two from two here with Petticoat Lane some sort of chance also, certainly on that Northam win three starts ago. Best of the rest for novelty punters maybe Little Larrikin, he is down in class from his last few runs this afternoon.

Race 7- Andros Jewellers Handicap- 1200metres
Two Fish Heads does look to be a very good horse, he bolted in last week by over three lengths and looks a good bet here this afternoon. Beautifully drawn for Shaun Meeres he should lead or race on the pace and looks to be too strong for his opposition here. Azza was a maiden winner three weeks ago at this track, looks a good place chance again today. Bendit races very consistently in this sort of company and is a good place chance again here with possibly Matron Geojack a rough place chance also, the field does drop away after the top couple of chances though.

Race 8- Rhino Water Tanks Handicap- 1600metres
Probably only guessing here but will select Ontrust, his last run was quite good when third to Ask Me Nicely, but respect also for Athena's Me Mum, she has been eased since her last start third at Ascot on Apr21, both seem to be very good winning chances today. I am Lucky comes in well also, if she can reproduce her last effort when second to Times Are Changing, and Nomunnofun loves the Pinjarra track, the question mark today is the rise to the 1600metres, he is yet to be placed over this distance.

Race 9- Pinjarra Park Racing 28 June Handicap- 2000metres
Teddy's Mate has been working up to a win lately, her last two starts have resulted in placings at Belmont in stronger fields, so today could be the day for this Blackfriars mare, has a wide draw to overcome but if doing so can probably win this race today. Shoot For Glory looks a good each way chance, he has raced well of late and can play a part here also. Hyden has also been in great form but does rise 6kgs in weight on her last run, a huge difference and that just might be too much for her, and No Expectations always runs on, always threatens to win next start but is yet to do so, but definitely a novelty chance once again in this race.
