Hoops tips for Wednesday 11th July

RACE 1 - WESTSPEED NURSERY HANDICAP 1000m

No. 14 MAGNIFISIO - We kick off the day with an intriguing two-year-old event as there are a host of first starters who have trialled very nicely. Trying to line up "trial form" is never an easy task. (14) MAGNIFISIO has impressed in both her trials and she hails from a very astute stable. I think she'll run well on debut. (13) KARRATHA CROSSING is now the sole representative for the Durrant stable after the scratching of the The Millionaire and she looks to have claims on the strength of her trial win. (2) PARK LANE is the experienced runner, he's had plenty of chances but he'll crack a win sooner rather than later I suspect. (5) CHOISIME found the line nicely on debut and should do the same today. I could have easily missed the winner in those four.
Numbers - 14, 13, 2, 5
Suggested Bet - None recommended

RACE 2 - ST LUKE'S FRIENDSHIP GROUP HANDICAP 1000m

No. 6 SILVER SASS - This is a ordinary midweek fillies and mares sprint and for that reason you would think that (6) SILVER SASS will get her chance to post a much deserved victory. I don't normally like backing the three-year-old fillies when they take on the older mares, however in this case her opposition does look weak. She beat all bar the talented Geiger Rio last start and if he were in this race punters would be queuing up. She'll just need a little luck from her gate and she'll take a stack of beating. The jury is out with (7) TALK UP A STORM and today should tell us whether she has in fact come back at all. First up I thought she was fair only and then last start she sat wide and punctured badly in the straight. She's better than that and if she found her best form she'd be a major chance. (1) BROOKI DIVA resumes from a spell with the benefit of a couple of very soft trials. She hasn't won a race for close to two years however if she found anything near her best form she's a big player. (12) COLD HANDEL hasn't fired a shot for around two years but her recent trial win was sharp so she could be worth throwing in for the novelties.
Numbers - 6, 7, 1, 12
Suggested Bet -Silver Sass win

RACE 3 - WESTSPEED 3YO HANDICAP 1000m

No. 3 LORD BALTHAZAAR - They should go like the wind in this race with PURE ADRENALIN, BIG CLINT, HURRICANE HOUND, ALVARES, IT'S A MERC & IN THE MOOD all noted speedsters. For that reason I'll go the horses who I think might just be able to sit off the speed and zoom home. (3) LORD BALTHAZAAR has become a non-winner but this just might be his race. He has a short sharp turn of foot when ridden off the speed and getting a soft run. From barrier 3 he'll get all the favours in running and if the leaders do go mad I think he'll be hard to hold out. However, with his record he's an each way only bet! I didn't mind the debut of (12) BAWCATME and I think she could be the potential value runner in the race. She took a while to get going on debut but was doing her best work late. With the tempo on I expect her to be strong late. (1) PURE ADRENALIN has the form on the board and she looks the best chance of the on-pacers. The only query is whether she can do it both ends with the 59kg. (4) BIG CLINT should be re-named the Big Cat after his last start effort, however, it wouldn't surprise if he pinched this at odds after the punters desert him.
Numbers - 3, 12, 1, 4
Suggested Bet -Lord Balthazaar each way, Bawcatme something small @ odds

RACE 4 - PR CHRISTMAS IN JULY LUNCHEON 28/07 HANDICAP 1000m

No. 1 BIZET - A bad race! The last time all three TABform tipsters went for (1) BIZET he started around 6/4 and won comfortably, do we see the same again today ? I'm not sure but I doubt I'll be wanting to get involved with him at any short quotes. In saying that on form he does look the one to beat. This is a mediocre field chock full of non-winners and horses resuming from a spell. Both Bizet's runs this preparation have been sound and from barrier 2 he either leads or box seats. (3) KELIA is the interesting runner. This time last year he was a galloper going places, however, the wheels came off last preparation and he never looked like it. He resumes with no trial so it's hard to know where he's at but if there is a positive market lead it should be respected as at his best he'd handle these. (2) AL SHAMARDAL resumes from a spell for his new trainer, Ben Pearce. He's galloper who hasn't won a race for over two years but does have ability. (7) EDADI is a complete non-winner but he's always a chance to fill a hole for the novelties.
Numbers - 1, 3, 2, 7
Suggested bet - None Recommended

RACE 5 - RACING RADIO 1206AM HANDICAP 2100m

No. 7 ATHENA'S ME MUM - A very competitive midweek staying event to kick off the quaddie. (7) ATHENA'S ME MUM was massive last start. She was having her first run for 10 weeks and she made a horrible mess of the start, missing it by a conservative 8 lengths and then she also met interference early in the straight when she was tracking up along the fence. Without those two incidents she goes very close to winning. She steps up to 2100m quickly but Justin Warwick is well renowned for getting his horses firing early in preparations. If she jumps well and makes use of the gate she's a major player. (1) FRIAARDAY steps up to a trip for the first time this preparation. He disappointed at his only run over a staying trip last preparation but it was on a hopelessly biased front runners track and he was at the end of his preparation. (4) I AM LUCKY hasn't won a race for over two years but the writing is definitely on the wall for another success as she has found the line strongly at her last couple. (2) SOUND BARRIER has had stacks of chances but he's in the mix again.
Numbers - 7, 1, 4, 2
Suggested Bet - Athena's Me Mum each way

RACE 6 - WESTSPEED 3YO HANDICAP 1300m

No. 7 FANICIO - This is a quality three-year-old midweek race with a number of very promising types all set to clash. I was really taken by the debut performance of (7) FANICIO and despite his wide draw I'm happy to be on. He was well backed on debut and the win was one of the most dominant you'll see from a debutante. He settled in the second half, worked into the race approaching the turn then powered past his rivals in the straight. He'll get back again but I think he'll take a lot of holding out. (1) MY BONNY LAD is a nice gelding who will appreciate the drop in grade. He was solid first up and he should get a nice run from his draw. (11) MIA CHINA DOLL was a soft winner on debut for the in-form Simon Miller team. This race contains much more depth however she's certainly in the mix. (10) HOT GOTH won very well on debut, settling off the speed and finishing all over her rivals. (5) BLACK ROMEO was another very impressive last start winner. This is a cracking race.
Numbers - 7, 1, 11, 010
Suggested Bet - Fanicio each way if odds permit

RACE 7 - PR MIDWEEK ROAST PACKAGE HANDICAP 1400m

No. 13 WHAT DO YOU KNOW - We go from a really intriguing race to a race that looks a raffle. I'll go for (13) WHAT DO YOU KNOW who is a tough mare to catch but on her two runs this preparation she should be very competitive in this event. From her draw she should get a soft run and hopefully she can finish powerfully. (7) PARATONNERRE went terribly first up but she was much better last week. From barrier 3 she should take a position right over the speed and I think she'll be in the finish. (4) LOVE YOU LIKE THAT is honest and from barrier 1 he'll get all the favours, he's a definite winning chance. (14) REDLINE VECTOR makes his WA debut. His trial was relatively soft and he wouldn't need to be a star to be competitive in this.
Numbers - 13, 7, 4, 14
Suggested Bet - None recommended

RACE 8 - playeronline.com.au HANDICAP

No. 1 AVONMORE TERRACE - I'm happy to stick with the class runner in this race and that being (1) AVONMORE TERRACE. Her first up record is better is better than it reads on paper and this is the weakest race she has contested for a while. She was asked for little in a recent trial and I think she'll be hard to hold out in the straight. (5) NOVEMBER RED is always a chance in these type of race, his last start effort although beaten was almost a career best. Paul Harvey has ridden (6) ACHEATIN SMILE once for one win. From barrier 2 no doubt the Pontiff will have him in the perfect spot again. (3) FUN SPICE won well last start and a repeat performance sees him in the mix again.
Numbers - 1, 5, 6, 3
Suggested Bet - Avonmore Terrace each way

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
