GUMBYS GOSSIP- Pinjarra- Thursday 12th July

The second last meeting of a long Pinjarra Park season this afternoon sees a few tough races for punters to try and evaluate. Race Eight is the highlight of the day featuring a few good country class gallopers.

Race 1- Wayne's Carpet Cleaning Maiden- 1200metres
Flying Time was only beaten a short neck by the very promising Rusty Peaches last start here on Jun28, Rusty Peaches ran a good second in a city class race last weekend to frank that form, so he will be the selection today. Obviously the outside barrier is the problem but with a maximum field of ten starters that may help alleviate that problem somewhat. Tacking On looks the main danger, a good third at Belmont last start and well drawn for this race. If The Slipperfits also ran a good second at Northam at her last start and will make her presence felt today. One from the strong Grant Williams stable first up is Fleeting Image, maybe one to look at for novelty bets at possible each way odds here.
Numbers- 1-6-7-9
Suggested Bet- 1- Flying Time- Win

Race 2- Drumprint Maiden- 1200metres
A pretty tough race here with a lot of the major fancies having their first start in a race. One that has had one start for a good second is Star City Boy for the David Harrison stable, he ran a nice race second up at Northam on Jun21 and does have Paul Harvey to pilot him today. Drawn very wide, he will also come in with the four scratchings which must help his cause. Magic Halo did run a good third to Rusty Peaches at her last start and looms as a possible danger in this. Three of the unraced horses look to have chances, Royal Inferno won a trial by over four lengths a couple of weeks ago, Guerrin won a trial at Lark Hill on July 2 and is from the in form Simon Miller stable, and Fashion Princess is another with pretty good trial form.

Numbers- 2-6-10-8
Suggested Bet- 2- Star City Boy- Each Way

Race 3- Tuckey's Hardware Mandurah Maiden- 1200metres
Scamandrius ran a good third at his only race start back in October last year and returns to the track today. He warmed up with a good trial win on Jun25 and on that previous Pinjarra effort looks to be hard to beat here in what is not an overly strong field. Spirit of Sandra has been running consistent races of late without winning and represents the danger today. Another horse resuming is Kippers Boy, he similarly had the one start late last year and ran a reasonable race, and has also won a trial in preparation for his return to the track, should run a good race today. Rakuroo looks the best of the rest here.

Numbers- 3-10-7-5
Suggested Bet- 3- Scamandrius- Win

Race 4- Bunbury Hotel Maiden- 1200metres
Devine Leigh may break thorough for her first win today. She returned with a good third to Mia China Doll here on Jun 28 and once again this is not an overly strong field. The main problem could be the wide draw but hopefully in form jockey Peter Knuckey can overcome that obstacle and she gets home in front for punters this afternoon. Rory's Magic looks to have bright prospects also, on the strength of her fourth in the same race here two weeks ago. Five Fields has been running just behind the placegetters of late, and may go a little better this afternoon and fill a minor placing, and one from the trials that looks to have some ability is Nozomi's Lover for trainer Richard Plunkett, may pay to put him into novelties in this race.

Numbers- 8-10-9-6
Suggested Bet- 8- Devine Leigh- Win

Race 5- Heytesbury Stud Handicap- 1400metres
Tough maiden race here with quite a few chances. Will throw out I'm Outta Here who ran a terrific second to the very promising Fancio at Belmont last start. On reproducing that effort she should go very close today. Leggy Blonde does look to have good prospects also, she ran a good third here at her first race start in January and returns today for the strong Adam Durrant stable, certainly in with a big show in this race. Heaven Tonight ran sixth in a much stronger race at Belmont at her last start and comes in with a good chance as well today, and Tilla Chance has been disappointing of late, but look for a better run this afternoon, drawn well and down a fair way in weight on his last two efforts.
Numbers- 9-10-7-1
Suggested Bet- 9- I'm Outta Here- Each Way

Race 6- Chaff City Maiden- 1400metres
Angel Wing gets her chance here today on the back of two good runs at her two starts in this campaign, she has been placed twice, both at this track and has the pole position in the barrier this afternoon and should get the run of the race in transit. Emaho looks the main danger to Angel Wing, although he is a nineteen start maiden, a statistic that makes it hard to tip him as the outright winner here, he is certainly down in class from his last start at Belmont. Others in the washup in this race appear to be Bellay, a good fourth here at this track last start and Bar Lover who has been around the place over his last few starts in similar company.

Numbers- 8-1-9-2
Suggested Bet- 8- Angel Wing- Win

Race 7- Golden West Lubricants Handicap- 1400metres
A very open race here with numerous chances, so definitely go wide in quaddie selections in this leg. Two horses down in class from their last few outings are Pegatrick and Mossroy, so will look at those to run quite well in this race today. Pegatrick won here back in May and has since held his form pretty well in tougher company, so if Paul Harvey can wield his magic from a wide barrier draw, he will be the on top selection here. Mossroy ran a good second to Namisuki at Belmont and raced in a strong city race last start behind The Corporation, so he will appreciate this field much better today, the concern is he has only won one race and that was over a year ago. Others with good prospects are Happymusk, who has won twice at this track and Charmoss, a last start winner at this track over I Am Lucky on Jun 28.
Numbers- 3-2-5-4
Suggested Bet- 3- Pegatrick- Each Way

Race 8- www.pinjarrapark.com.au Handicap- 1200metres
This is the best race of the day with a good field engaged. Now that Swing has finally broken his maiden status she just might go on with it and string a few wins together. She has changed stables since her last start victory down here on May31, but drawn beautifully at the 1200metre start she should give you a good sight for your money today, it looks like she has been freshened up for this assignment and back to the 1200metres should go well. The Cavalieri looks hard to beat also, he won first up last campaign and looks to be well above average, drawn nicely for his return this afternoon. The ever consistent Nomunnofun will have admirers as always, she very rarely runs a bad race, and Tellem Ya Dreamin also returns to racing today, he raced very well on South West tracks when last in work.
Numbers- 11-8-1-4
Suggested Bet- 11- Swing- Win

Race 9- Pinjarra Parks Racing 26 July Handicap- 1600metres
Invidious finally broke through last start after putting the writing on the wall in his previous few efforts, and having tasted success may go on with it now. He looks as good a chance as anything else in this race today and his recent form points to a very strong showing here. Daly Hennessy has raced well of late also, is down in class from a last start fifth at Northam so may go well in this field today. Others with chances appear to be Fa'Em, a good last start runner up at Northam, drawn well for jockey Jason Whiting, and Blitz'em has shown promise and will be improving with race experience, he ran a good third behind Temples here at his last start on Jun28. The Pupster and Star Beau will also have to be considered for quartet punters in this last race of the day.
Numbers- 2-11-5-7
Suggested Bet- 2- Invidious- Each Way

My thoughts...Logistically, a trainer getting to the races for a 9am start would be extremely difficult to achieve on a routine basis when travel time & having to be clocked in on course 1 hour before their race at 9am, is taken into consideration. Not to ...

I've just heard that Kristy has got a flight home (Medivac) on Sunday. Her rehab will be long and agonising so as a passionate racing person myself I ask everyone to hope/pray for the best possible outcome for Kristy and the rest of her family
