Americain ends fabulous career
Champion French galloper Americain has graced the racing community with his final presence following his unplaced effort in yesterday's Group 1 Melbourne Cup.

wrote himself into the record books in 2010 when he became the first French-trained galloper to salute in the staying feature when he upstaged Australian trained gallopers Maluckyday

Reported by Australian owner Kevin Bamford this morning that the eight-year-old entire had now earned himself a well-earned retirement begin his new career at stud.
Americain finished fourth behind fellow French galloper Dunaden
in last year's Melbourne Cup but much like a majority of the backmarkers in yesterday's event, he was unable to bridge the gap with the big weight subsequently finishing 11th under the riding of Damien Oliver.
Interestingly enough star jockey Gerald Mosse remained the only jockey to salute aboard Americain in the last two years despite being replaced on a number of occasions.
Americain won 11 of 34 starts, amassing more than $5.9 million in prize money.
