Ascot R1. Westspeed Plate Review
1100m | 12:54PM
The punters wanted one horse and one horse only and that was Foxalicious. This horse had trialled beautifully and the punters hoped to see that form carried into this race.
The punters only wanted Foxalicious, however their hearts were in their mouths when it missed the start. Harvey was still able to get this favourite through on the rail to be first before the bend. It cruised around the bend and stretched out nicely to kick away from the field easily. Although slowing down towards the line, this horse won convincingly and was as impressive as expected after missing the start.
Results
1. 10 FOXALICIOUS $1.60/$1.30
2. 8 BELMONT GIRL $3.10
3. 4 LOW TIDE $2.10
Horses to follow:
Foxalicious – After watching this horse trial, I had been waiting to see it entered in a race. Although missing the start, it did not disappoint. This is a horse with plenty of potential and is going to be winning plenty of racse. Put it straight into the black book.
Low Tide – Outside of the obvious horse to follow, this was a horse to keep an eye on. Pike had to give it a few hits with the whip before the turn as it wasn’t responding early. It responded well to this attention and responded well to Pike’s aggressive riding around the bend and into the straight. The horse pushed hard all the way to the line and was definitely the eye catcher of the race.

The punters had this as a race between three in Exclusive Honour, Double Fun and Lord Balthazar. For those punters who had one of these three horses, they wouldn’t get the money, as Jack ‘n’ Sam raided on their parade with an impressive victory at double figure odds.
Beach Avenue jumped away sensationally and was able to cross the field and lead them early as was expected. Double fun and Sealynx sat just behind the pace early as they tried to keep up with the speedy Beach Avenue. Jack ‘n’ Sam got into trouble on the bend as it caught the heels of Double Fun, however after Ganderton was able to settle the horse, it sprinted through the field and hit the line hard to just hold out Exclusive Honour. Lord Balthazar rattled home late for third position.
Results
1. 8 JACK ‘n’ SAM $11.10/$2.20
2. 2 EXCLUSIVE HONOUR $1.20
3. 4 LORD BALTHAZAR $1.60

Ascot R3. The Massey Handicap Review
1800m | 2:14PM
The punters were undecided going in to this race. Namisuki would start favourite with Whiting on board, however Daneclicked, Ready On Time and Luminol would all recieved late support to make all horses start at nice odds.
Daneclicked was dropped straight to last position as it did last start when it swooped the field to win. Luminol was the first out and led them early from Ready On Time. The early pace only generous which About Turn didn’t like as it tried to pull around the field. Luminol started to increase the pace into the turn and kicked away with Ready on Time as About Turn struggled to go with them due to pulling so hard. The two Parnham brothers raced clear and it would be S. Parnham that would get the family bragging rights as he was just able to get Ready On Time’s nose in front of Luminol.
Results
1. 2 READY ON TIME $6.60/$1.70
2. 5 LUMINOL $2.00
3. 4 NAMISUKI $1.50
Horse to follow:
Luminol – This horse came down in distance which I think it enjoyed. It led the whole race, kicked away on the turn with Ready On Time and fought the entire way to the line, where it just missed out. In the same grade with a similar field, this horse is going to be consistently hard to beat.
Ascot R4. Sando's Summer Handicap Review
1400m | 2:54PM
Amphlett was all the rage going into this race with Harvey on board. It carried on its winning way to salute for punters.
Harvey took the favourite straight to the lead in the early stages of this race. Pashtoon jumped away well from a wide gate and tried to trail Amphlett early. Harvey did things as he wanted at the front as he controlled the race perfectly to suit Amphlett. It was well held coming into the turn, but Harvey gave the favourite some room to move on the straight and it kicked away quickly to open up a nice buffer on the rest of the field. It raced away easily for a very nice win.
Results
1. 2 AMPHLETT $1.60/$1.20
2. 3 IT’S NO MYTH $1.50
3. 4 GWEN TEN $1.50
Horses to follow:
Amphlett – This horse is going places. I have backed all its recent runs and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s a classy horse that races well and responds to the jockey instantly. It should definitely be in your black book.
Biscabeel – We pencilled this horse in as one to follow from last week’s meet. Again this horse was last on the rails around the turn but was able to fight its way through the field and once in the gap it fought home hard for fourth again. If ridden closer to the front it could be one to watch and it may just be looking for more ground. I am going to continue following this horse.
Ascot R5. Dan's Leg Handicap Review
1200m | 3:30PM
After recent impressive runs Flying Lord would start favourite with Pike on board. However the punters showed interest in Dark Rock and My Bonny Lad.
Fonzarelli got a great start and was able to fly through the inside to hold out a few other horses that showed impressive pace early like Sheezthebizness. Fonzarelli was able to kick away from the field and going around the turn with 650m to go, it had got out to a handy lead. The Pipe and Sheezthebizness were second and third going into the straight and set out after the leader but it was Running In Vain and Dark Rock that were able to push home hard to just get in front of Fonzarelli who couldn’t lead the whole way and win.
Results
1. 4 RUNNING IN VAIN $8.40/$2.00
2. 8 DARK ROCK $1.70
3. 11 FONZARELLI $3.40
Horse to follow:
My Bonny Lad – This horse was at the back end of the field after the start. Coming into the turn it was second last and a long way from the lead. It was still second last after the turn and Whiting had to be the widest on the straight to give it some open space. It sprinted home quickly and was taking big ground from the leaders late. If ridden closer to the leaders in a similar grade it should get a win.

Pure Glamour from the Williams stable would start favourite for this race, however Grand Palace got some late support from punters with Harvey on board who had already had some nice wins.
Unpretentious Lass jumped away extremely well from the barriers and showed extreme pace early on in this race to lead in front of the favourite Pure Glamour. As they approached the 400m mark Unpretentious Lass had gained a small lead on Moshayer and the favourite Pure Glamour who had a nice spot on the rail. Pure Glamour was hard ridden and gave chase to Unpretentious Lass who couldn’t hold off the favourite but managed to finish second after leading the whole race.
Results
1. 10 PURE GLAMOUR $4.70/$1.90
2. 2 UNPRETENTIOUS LASS $3.50
3. 4 FRIAR’S LUCK $10.00
Horses to follow:
Unpretentious Lass – This horse showed extreme pace early on from barrier 12. It this horse gets a better barrier and maybe drops down to 1000m, then it’s going to be extremely hard to beat. It showed extreme pace early and I believe the 1000m will suit it more; however it can definitely win over the 1100m.
Back To A Walk – From a wide barrier this horse was stuck out wide for its entire run. It was three wide around the turn and in last position. It ran into trouble a few times and was weaved in and out of horses at the start of the straight. This horse ran on extremely well and I think it’s looking for a little more distance. In the right race and possibly over a little more distance, this horse could be one to back at nice each way odds.

Race 7 was a tough race to pick for punters. Soonest started favourite, but there was plenty of support for Antelpen, Executive Action, Dubai Escapade and Rock City
S. Parnham rode Soonest hard early to the lead and it stretched the field right out. As they came to the 750m mark Soonest led from Cane Train and Pegatrick and was cruising out in front. Far Rock showed a great turn of foot on the bend to move from last position to fourth with plenty of momentum going into the straight. Rock City jumpedoin the back of Far Rock, but it was Soonest that raced away and drew well clear of the field and won by over four lengths. Rock City and Dubai Escapade fought it out hard for the minor places.
Results
1. 4 SOONEST $3.80/$1.70
2. 1 ROCK CITY $3.30
3. 6 DUBAI ESCAPADE $1.90
Horses to follow:
Soonest – This horse was very impressive. It showed great pace from the barriers, led the whole way and then kicked away on the straight to blow the rest of the field away. This is a quality horse and one to continue backing as it tries to go through the grades.
Let’s Havachat – This horse got away fairly but raced on heels early and had to be pulled back a few times. It really struggled in the pack as it clearly wanted to quicken the pace up. It took the bend averagely and ended up third last and wide. Once it straightened up it fought hard and its last 50m – 100m was eye catching as it hit the line hard to get fourth spot. This horse is looking for more ground and in a similar grade race over more distance will be hard to beat.

S. O’Donnell would go into the last race of the day on the favourite Crumpet O’Reilly. The punters were keen on a few horses such as Raising Dubai and Bickerfield who got some late backing.
After a very even start it took a while for the horses to sort themselves out. At the 1100m mark Holy Maximus had managed to get to the lead from Crumpet O’Reilly who was ridden closer than normal. As they went around the turn Crumpet O’Reilly cruised around Holy Maximus to get the lead as Raising Dubai also went forward and joined Crumpet O’Reilly at the start of the straight. At the 200m mark there were plenty of chances, but it was Bickerfield who was able to fight it out to hit the lead and hold off Commended and Steel Spur.
Results
1. 3 BICKERFIELD $8.20/$2.50
2. 13 COMMENDED $18.80
3. 10 STEEL SPUR $4.40
