Betfair Railway and Winterbottom preview
BETFAIR PUNTERS GO WEST FOR GROUP ONE RACES
With the conclusion of Melbourne’s spring racing carnival, action heads west for two Group One races at Ascot this Saturday.
Betfair punters have installed speedster Barakey favourite for the Winterbottom Stakes ahead of Travinator who has won seven of his nine career starts.
Despite a big weight, last year’s winner Luckygray is favourite to go back-to-back in the Railway and Antique Belle seeks to make up for a luckless last-start third when she lines up in the W.A. Guineas.
In his exclusive column for Betfair punters, Travinator’s jockey Glen Boss said “this is undoubtedly his biggest test” and I’m “going to have to pull out a cracking ride to get my mount up against this strong field at weight for age.”
Bossy is excited to partner with Peggie’s Dream in the Jungle Mist Classic who he describes as having “amazing potential” and is a winner of five from six with a third to Travinator her only defeat.
SATURDAY SPECIALS FROM BETFAIR’S DANIEL BEVAN
Railway Stakes tip – MASCHINO
Undoubtedly his biggest test, but comes into this race a strong winner in the RJ Peters last start and gets in well with 53kg.
Best – PEGGIE’S DREAM [Ascot R6 No. 12]
It took Travinator to beat this mare who has racked up five wins from six starts. In his Betfair column, Glen Boss said he’s delighted to partner with this mare who he describes as having “amazing potential” and has the benefit of a good draw and 5.5kg off Upon This Rock.
Value – LORD OF BRAZIL [Moonee Valley R6 No. 2]
How is $6 being bet about this horse? He couldn’t be in better form and backed up his Ballarat Gold Nugget win with a win over the mile on Oaks day.
Lay – SPACECRAFT [Moonee Valley R6 No. 4]
He hasn’t won a race since September 2010 and he strikes a hot field of horses in far better form here.
Best backed – ISABELLA SNOWFLAKE [Moonee Valley R1 No. 2]
She defied a big betting drift two back to win impressively at Caulfield and despite being no match for Shamal Wind in Listed grade last start on Oaks day, can bounce back in a weaker race here. Accounts for around 85% of early money matched on the race.
