Boss warms to Fuddle Dee Duddle
oss's mount Fuddle Dee Duddle is a filly and no filly has won the 1800m Kingston Town Classic at Ascot since its inception in 1976.
But Boss is keen about her chances.
"She is in good form, has only 50kg ,which is a nice weight advantage (9kg on most of the field), and has drawn a good barrier (two)," he said yesterday.
Fuddle Dee Duddle is coming off an unlucky 1 1/2-length fourth to Academus in the Group 2 WA Guineas a fortnight ago.
Boss has won 77 Group 1 races but has only one minor placing from five attempts at that level in the west.
He returned to Ascot last month after a three-year gap to win the Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) on Peggie's Dream before finishing third aboard Rosie Rocket in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) and second aboard Starlight Lady in the Listed Tattersall's Cup (2100m).
Luckygray flashed home for second in the Railway on November 24 and will not have to give his conqueror Mr Moet 5kg in this weight-for-age event, as he did then.
Playing God has won the Classic for the past two years and is proven at the distance, while Ranger was runner-up last year.
Boss said he would take a break from Sunday week.

9kg is a big difference - gotta be a chance. The large field is once again LuckyGray's danger
