Daniel Staeck to miss Perth Cup

Perth Turf Talk | Metropolitan Racing | Sun 22 December, 2013

Jockey Daniel Staeck will miss the $500,000 Perth Cup (2400m) on January 1 due to a careless riding suspension.

Stewards slapped Staeck with a 13-day suspension for causing interference to Darlington Abbey when he rode Doubt You Catch Me in the Starstruck Classic.

Staeck was in the enviable position of having to choose whether to ride Kincaple or Knightlike in the cup.

Kincaple ran second to Ihtsahymn in the CB Cox Stakes and Knightlike ran second to Pop Culture in the ATA Handicap after winning the GA Towton Cup.

I see he's booked for Kincaple on CRIS. Whats with that?

Unlucky. Poor guy. Would of ridden Knightlike myself. Looks quite suited to the Perth Cup.
