Hall questioned over Ysmael ride
An inquiry was opened but then adjourned to a later date over jockey Peter Hall's handling of Bruce Watkins trained Ysmael, in particular to his riding in the straight.
Ysmael was the target of massive support at his previous start on August 29 where Hall came from near last and took a spectacular rails run to get up in the final few strides. Ysmael was backed from $8 to $4 on that day.
In contrast, the second favourite behind McBlitzam ($2.50) was an obvious drifter in today's event, easing from $4.40 to $5 on most books.
Stewards questioned both Hall and trainer Watkins at Belmont Park today but will take the time to consider the previous performances of Ysmael, no doubt with emphasis on the last two runs.
Jockey Shaun McGruddy was also questioned in relation to his riding of Metallica in the same event.

His ride on classy Dubai seemed a bit suss, didnt see the hally pump, and cane, once up the straight.

just watched the replay and i reckon i have identified why the stewards are going to have a good look at it..it looked a lot more suspect than when i saw it sitting in the stands!!!! Will watch this enquiry with a bit of interest.
