Hall's penalty reduced news

Hall's penalty reduced

Perth Turf Talk | Metropolitan Racing | Wed 7 November, 2012

Peter Hall will this week resume race riding after his suspension for failing to take all reasonable measures to achieve the best possible position on Ysmael in a race at Belmont Park on the 5th of September, was reduced to two months.

Hall has served that two month period and has already been booked to ride the Steve Wolfe trained Our Ol' Fella in the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes on Saturday.

Chairman Mr Dan Mossenson dismissed the appeal as to the conviction but upheld the appeal as to the length or severity of the penalty.

If Hall wasn't trying, WTF did he give it a gun run up to that point? I've seen thousands of riders try less than Hall did and go unpunished.

he wasnt charged for "not pulling the whip". You should read the ruling, it was very clear on the basis for dismissing the appeal. What the Appeals board did not agree with was that it was in the upper scale of offences, therefore they reduced the penalty.
