Limited nominations for the Newmarket
It was a disappointing list of nominations that came in for the $80,000 Belmont Newmarket (1200m) this weekend.
Headed by the old timer and former Winterbottom winner Hadabeclorka, the quality is definitely lacking.
Werd will carry the second top weight with 59kg and will be looking for a little more luck than his last start in the Beaufine, where he was held up for the majority of the straight. Arch rival Latoria will again take him on with the weight advantage.
Most recent black type winner, Megem's Boy goes around again but at a distance that has proven to be his nemesis while Bites The Dust, Cavallo Pazzo and Wild Charger all go first up on Saturday.
Despite the lack of nominations its an interesting little race where one of these runners gets a chance to add a stakes race to his resume.

I think I get what you're saying, but hacks? The top 4 runners have won nearly $2 mill between them. The race lacks depth however, agreed. That's what happens when you weight good horses out of WA racing isn't it, why should the owners of Luckygray be penalised...

and i can't decide if he's up to it or not.not sure he could give those big starts away over here.as against that, i know he has marasco plus acceleration, and is certainly the best runner(proven) in wa, since i started this current database about 4 years ago

Luckygray would be winning this race with 61kg......so hardly weighted out.bigger spoils over east at this stage, thats why he's going.

what do you think they are called handicaps for?of course they SHOULD be penalised, but the fact of the matter is that in his case, he isn'ti think the max he can get in a hcp is 61kg, because of contrived top weights.if luckygray was weighted out then he woul...

That's what happens when you weight good horses out of WA racing isn't it, why should the owners of Luckygray be penalised for having a top class horse, I would rather watch Luckygray go around than any of these hacks.

and it is scaled slightly better than the average listed race is!(+4 as against +3.5)if i could post some tables, then i could show just how weak wa listed races are on average, and just how much your handicappers overrate them.for instance if measuring wins a...
