On The Money - Belmont 8th June
Race 1:
The only one they wanted in the first was Terkel. He was strong throughout at $1.60 with only $1.70 bet at the top of the market. The remainder drifted to be at some very good value including the winner Bizet who got as far as $12. Bookies were lucky to lay any bets outside of the favourite and had a result on the first.
Race 2:
Operational was the form horse in the race and was backed accordingly from as much as $4 to $2.80. Starlight Lady was also specked from $18 to $12. Big Attitude $3.60 to $4 and Cyber Crime $5 to $5.50 eased slightly as did Daneclicked. Operational accounted for them easily and carried on his good form since a small let up.
Race 3:
The in form Vital Importance was the obvious favourite and was steady throughout at $3.20. Yaloginda drifted from $5 to $6.50. The one they wanted, first up out of some good races over the summer, was Ihtsahymn, who was steadily backed from $5.50 to $4.20. Charliebegood and Weekend Shadow were also firm throughout betting at around $10 and $5.50 respectively. Ihtsahymn was too smart first up and looks in for a good campaign.
Race 4:
Jestpatim ($4.80 - $7), Top Stuff ($4.80 - $6), High Limit ($5.50 - $8) and Night Train ($5.50 - $7) were all very easy in the fourth. The best money was for Mister Panon ($26 - $14) and eventual winner Quoka ($5.50 - $5). Jestpatim obviously needed the run first up and Top Stuff was disappointing. Mister Panon ran a much better race for Jim Taylor.
Race 5.
The big money was for the obvious leader Dare To Doubt ($11 - $6). When We Were Kings was easy to lay again $6 - $5 and the favourite Elite Belle was steady throughout at $2.70 and $2.80 after $3.30 was bet in pre post markets. The winner, Black Magic Miss, was surprisingly allowed to drift out in the market, starting at $5 and closing a $6.50 shot.
Race 6:
Fuddle Dee Duddle was the big drifter after her failed Victorian assault ($9 - $31). Hussy By Choice wobbled from $4 to $5 before good late support back into $3.60. Dream Lifter also drifted to $4 before closing out at $3.60. Its a Bit Shady ($5 - $10), and Purple Tiger ($8 - $26) were unwanted while Silver Speck was backed from $4.80 to $3.50 but struggled.
Race 7:
The big money was for Rantorini in the mile race. After getting out to double figures at his last two runs, she was evenly supported from $4.80 to $3.70 November Red was specked early at $9 before opening at $6 and drifting to $11. Accrual was well backed, as is normally the case ($7 - $5) and Ancient Spell was steady at $7 and $8. Uncle George was relatively easy this week, opening at $6 and closing at $7. Eventual winner Flag Officer was moderately supported with $7 available at jump time.
Race 8:
The big money came for two runners in the last, both Dominating ($3.20 to $2.80) and The Rising ($3.60 - $4.40 - $2.80) were belted in the ring. By default, Miss Solis had to drift ($5 - $7.50) and so did every other runner, all of which were $21 or more. Dominating had the better run and was a convincing winner. Pre post markets bet some $4 about Neville Parnham's Snitzel 3yo, which was good shopping. Tudor Lad showed a glimpse of his old form, but was unwanted ($17 - $81).

I hear what your saying Vorg. The way I saw her run on Saturday was a bit like getting a 'D' instead of an 'F' on a report card. 'F' being a failure and disapointment and a 'D' being below average and not enough to pass but could have been worse. Perhaps it...

Isn't below average the same as disappointing?

Hey Diva. Really enjoying these articles so keep up the great work. Just 1 thing I want to point out though and please don't take it personally mate. You stated in race 4 that Top Stuff was dissapointing. Well I can understand you saying that on face value ...
