Playing God heads Farnley nominations

Matt Rigby | Metropolitan Racing | Tue 4 September, 2012

Playing God is a surprise nomination for the Listed Farnley Stakes this weekend over 1400m.

With a rating of 114, some 11 points clear of his next rival Colour Correct, Playing God will have to lump 62kg.

Last year's Kingston Town Classic winner is first up after tackling some of Australia's best last Autumn, including a creditable third behind Black Caviar in the CF Orr Stakes in February. That was his first up run for the campaign, but he did go into the Orr with a trial, something he will have to do without if he is to win the Farnley.

Colour Correct returns after a short let up. He returned in great style in the Belmont Sprint (1400m) running on well behind Luckygray to finish fourth. He then failed in the Hyperion (1600m) towards the end of June.

The Farnley also sees the return of Elliotto, who was spotted at only one run in his last two campaigns. He was beaten soundly in the Winterbottom in November last year at his last run. Elliotto won a trial on Monday at Belmont Park.
