Smith rounds out stellar season news

Smith rounds out stellar season

Perth Turf Talk | Country Racing | Mon 20 August, 2012

Angela Smith finished up with the two emergencies for the Broome Cup this year but was left languishign without a runner when Successful Spin and China Causeway both missed out on a start.

Smith had a dreadful year by her own standards in 2011 but took  out the Broome Cup with Viscount Cameron on the last day of the season.

Angela and her husband Malcolm are of course no strangers to the big cups, having won the Perth Cup with Time Frame back in 1997.

Smith trained a treble to complete the 2012 season on Saturday, winning with Feel The Force, Cat Magic and the outsider Dastardly. She has trained seven winners at Broome for the season and took out leading trainer at Derby.

As part of her yearly routine, she will drive back south and take on the Newman Carnival next Saturday with a handful of runners before taking a well earned holiday for a month prior to the new season at Albany and Mt Barker.
