Tempestuous Strikes news

Tempestuous Strikes

Perth Turf Talk | Metropolitan Racing | Wed 1 August, 2012

Tempestuous Strike (Husson Lightning - La Lollobrigida) followed up his excellent debut win back in November last year, with a convincing 3.25 length win at Belmont Park today.

Connections were brimming with the win as they excercised an option to purchase just last week, making the Husson Lightning gelding their own.

Damian Winn has had a lot of time for the now 3yo after agreeing to take on the lease as a 2yo and was unfortunate not to be able to reap the rewards first up, when serving time on disqualification, with Trevor Andrews the caretaker trainer. Tempestuous Strike beat the subsequent Karrakatta and Sires Produce winner, Lukes Luck, on his merits that day. Rather than press on to the rich 2yo races, connections opted to tip him out and bring him back a more mature horse, something that just may have paid off based on todays effort.

The mare, La Lollobrigida is now four to race for four winners with her fifth, a filly by Due Sasso, dying in a paddock mishap earlier this year.
