The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Ascot March 7
The Good
What a magnificent Dong - Any treble's a good treble.
Holy Sheidel - Not a pretty race to watch, but a pretty emphatic victory.
Inok - When I'm his age I'd settle for being able to pass wind without fear of a laundry-based emergency. This warhorse is happy to battle it out in front and tenaciously fight off younger steeds. The owners have sure had some fun with this one and hats off to Neville and team who have shown constant abiliy to keep getting wins out of older horses.
Mad Brad - Breezed on a sub 48 sec first 800 metres and only beaten a length. Superb run and holding career best form.
He or She - Great to see him heading East. I'm convinced that he's a freak but time will tell. The way Sigley is going I'm not sure any trainer in the southern hemisphere could improve him!
The Bad
Does Samuel Jackson do the form as well??? Everybody is well aware of the issues of this questionable organisation, but how about this for genuine laugh material - the opening price for Ask Me Nicely was about $6 and the opening price for Detection was about $5. Seriously.
Royal Rada - There has been money for it twice in a row. Why?
'Insert Random Complaint Template Here' - Sky Channel's response to my e-mail regarding them not showing Ascot replays last week:
We apologise for not programming the Ascot replay as normal last Sunday.
We encountered a technical problem overnight that prevented the play out of the Ascot meeting, so it was replaced by the Warwick meeting.
It is our intention to continue to replay major thoroughbred meeting replays on Sky Racing 1 and/or Sky Racing World, now free to all Foxtel subscribers, each night.
Anyone else buying it? FYI the Warwick meeting was showing as being scheduled on the Foxel TV Guide early Saturday afternoon before the Ascot races had even concluded!!!
Highly Secret - Rumour has it that when the stable dog eyeballs her she craps herself.
The Ugly
Superior Lay - Not a typo. The K.Kersley fear factor has gone well over the top now, although in this case I'm sure there's excuses for the horse.
Essayez - Relax kids I'm just stirring. Nice work and congrats to all involved. Almost 80k in the bank already. What are these 'training fees' you speak of?
Eighty Eight Excuses - The money coming twice in a row for Royal Rada, a $30 pop, just qualifies as bad. The money continuously coming for this horse from bad barriers is cringeworthy. Capable animal when right but give me a spell punters. It's only win since it was a 2yo was when it settled directly behind the leader and received the dream rails run.
Saxy Grace tactics - If I'd backed it I would've been furious. What a great idea to get on the back of Rive Gauche just as he was dropping the gearstick into reverse????
