R6. Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes - 1 January 1970

Can you see me?
If Showy Chloe has finally made her way out of traffic from last Saturday's Peters Stakes then I think she can give this a very good crack at an eachway quote. Expecting every man and their dog to be aboard the Chocolate Holic train, especially with Damien Oliver on his back, and while he is a deserving favourite and the obvious danger I just think that Showy Chloe will again sneak under the radar and be over the odds. Jarrad Noske on is another positive riding engagement and she should settle perfectly midfield. Chocolate Holic was no where to be seen last start in the Ascot Gold Cup and as a result finds himself in the Carbine Club over 1400m rather than the Group 1 Railway Stakes over a mile. This race looks right up his alley and could easily make it 7 wins from 10 starts. Belmont Guineas winner and Railway second emergency Great Shot looks as though he will find the front with Vegabus drawn outside him and from there the two of them control the tempo of the race.

First four hoops home in the Railway...Whyte , Bowman , Pike , Oliver. International champ, two eastern states champs and a local champ! Class tells. Certainly does. All 6 visiting jocks were in the first 7 on the corner. Pike was 8th.

Under the circumstances I thought Jestajingle ran pretty well all things, considered. She was only fair to begin and when Hall urged her she took off and just as she appeared to settle another horse poked up on the rail and she was three deep with no chance of...
