smoko and barakey have issues it would appear, and as i have no idea of their wellness i would not care to guess which one, but they would fight it out i reckon if they were on their game.

so the weights are out, and every runner bar the top 2 is at least 2.5kg out of the handicap.

Barakey 2 62kg

Magnifisio 5  58.5kg

Dueton 7  54kg

Smoko 12  54kg

 

Magnifi and Dueton are still my two bets...well accept for the silly tenner on Blacksmith. He doesn't owe me a dollar

so with barakey out then there is only one horse with the correct weight for its rating.

every other horse is carrying at least 2.5kg more than its rating says it should relative to magnifisio.

so if magnifisio wins does it get a higher rating, as it is now thrown in according to ratings?

if magnifisio does nothing, then will the winner be re-handicapped as a 96+ winner, when it will be no such thing?

Theme's the rules...... So anything that beats it tomorrow gets 96 PLUS the 3 to 5 for the win. Worst case would be Soldiers Lass with a whopping 20 point +.

I'd be 'running' for second! (Actually, I think they'd still get points for that!)

Be very interestng to hear the reason Barakey is out, if he hasn't had a hiccup then you could only think he's going to head East.  If they don't want to run with 62kg there's no WFA races for him until the Goodwood mid August and even then you can't imagine he'd go first up into a 1300m race.

I actually read about that a couple of weeks ago that Jim T wasn't ruling out the idea of starting Barakey first up in the Goodwood. He is confident he will have him fit enough to run over 1300m's first up, if he so desires.

From a betting perspective if you took the top weight and Smoko out i would probably be happy to take dueton at $4. I think taking Dueton the place is certainly the best bet in the race given that he's not out of the race by any means.

Apart from that i can't really see the topweight beating Smoko might be one for the straight out trifecta's as well.

I'd probably make it a Smoko, Magnifiso, then Dueton/Celebrity Miss tri for $2, then a handful of units...
