Rio, final result was inexcusable, as simple as that.

The problem is that when people whinge all the time their is a tendency to switch off, or simply ask when are you running for the Committee.

This club has performed at this level for many years...but there are many who refuse to believe it.

There are people who nominated for the committee, got voted in and are meant to do they job they are voted in for..there are many people who have ideas of how to improve the place, but have other things in their life that consume their time.....and are met with this dumb response whenever they question what is happening!!

If any member of the club cant have an opinion on the club, then there is the first problem that needs to be fixed...but at this club the list is that long, imo even professional managers would struggle to find a starting point

Latest press release from Perth Racing

It won't copy for me, so to quote

"Perth Racing will undertake routine works to the track and will appoint an independent racecourse track curator to conduct a thorough assessment. This will ensure the track continues to be safe for future racing."

I wnt along yesterday, and when I arrived,i patiently waited in the Que as the usual checking ages, then when I got in,i thought mmm good crowd building up so went and checked out all the new facilities,Big Screens in Bookies ring, and then the Parade ring and New owners area I thought yeah looks ok,but oviously after race 4 it turned sour, but in some ways imagine if they had gone ahead with the Northerly, some valuable horse flesh there and if something had happened to one of the runners in that race and the following races to,but they have had 6 months to make this track picture perfect, and this happens,i said to someone how hard is it,so happy no one or any horse was seriously injured, and all PR said we are sorry.

:-? Doesn't that depend on how bad the track actually is? No amount of expertise will have it ship shape in a few days/weeks if it is truly farqued.

Have read a number of different versions of the problem now - all bar 1 have been second hand.

Why doesn't PR release a  simple 4 dot point statement

    - The problem(s) with the track is/are .......
    - This/these were caused by .........
    - This is what we are doing to fix it .........
    - Future race meetings will be ..........

My client doesn't have any horses racing at Ascot or planned to for several weeks. So it is little real damage to us, just the Racing Industry as a whole. It just relieved the need to have safety discussion with our Trainers.

If they were mine and it was up to me, I would be looking at spelling them and coming back after the New Year. Luckily we are top heavy with two year old's, so it's easy to slow them down once they get to a Trial, just don't race and come back in February.

Only if PR move the carnival races to Feb too Damien. So many people have their horses ready for the richer races in the next month or so.

The horses in question for us are not good enough. I feel for those that have worked towards the calendar. Hard to see positives out of this situation, but I am trying to find something.

From what i have heard CUB were given the flick as major sponsor and they went with the major competitor so no more Peroni. Good move in my book.

Well what a fiasco yesterday,on what was supposed to be a special day.
The wife and I booked Flying Colours for a table of 6 celebrating an 80th and 60th birthday knowing we would have a runner in the Belgravia Stakes I will give you a run down of our experience
We were told to be at our table 1/2hour prior to the first race, which we were.we were given a welcome drink prior to being seated ,of which 3 beers and a glass of champagne were fine but 2 of the ladies in our group ordered a separate drinks which did not arrive for about 1/2 an hour in the meantime I was already on my second Corona.
The meal service started at about 1.30 and we left our table at 4.45 still awaiting desert
In the meantime the service was ok,we consumed approximately 15 beers(of which I had about 9 or 10) 2 bottles of champagne,3 glasses of wine and 4 baileys and ice and got charged $132.20 for the lot.Not bad eh,no wonder the club does not make any money.
I backed 3 winners in the first 4 races and 2 bets in Melbourne of which 1 won so early on in the day I was feeling great.
I went downstairs a couple of times to see friends. on my way back up the stairs a young bloke (who was in front of me) pulled his phone out of his back pocket and out dropped a tote betting ticket with$50 win Silverstream on it (this was prior to the race)he did not know he even dropped it. I gave it back to him once we reached the top floor.
The day was going really well until the track gallop of Watermans Bay then a complete disaster.
I was fuming (you could see the steam or boiling corona coming out of the top of my head) how could this happen. So what was going to be the highlight,Of the day seeing our runner in the Belgravia did not happen I was very confident he could win especially after one of the previous races had been run. We left Flying colours at about 4.50 put our guests into taxis, and proceeded back to the bar.left the course about 6.45 totally under the weather.
Now we have to wait yet again ,to see if the race is going to be run on Wednesday.
