R1- OUTBACK JACK raced like a horse that would benefit from the experience on debut last week. Went back to last and was put into the race early but still took plenty of time to pick up and hit the line well into second. The rise to 1700 suits as does racing against his own age group and from barrier one he can sit closer. Shouldn’t have to worry about being held up with a cutaway and looks much better suited in this.
R2- SHEIKH IT was well backed on debut when beating a smart type in Savage One. They gapped third in that race and he looks to have plenty of upside as a young progressive type. Rises straight to 1700 second up but looks like he’ll relish the extra trip on the way he ran through the line at 1400. He looks a horse that will be winning better races than this and should get a very similar leaders back run again here from two.
R3- TREASURED CROWN is having his first start with the Durrant stable after going only fairly in four starts to date. Placed twice from three maiden runs before running down the track in listed company but all of his maiden runs were good enough to see him be competitive in this. Trialled nicely enough for his return and looks should find himself somewhere midfield with cover and 1400 looks the right distance for him fresh.
R4- TYCOON STORM has rebounded from a first up flop when ridden a bit too close on a strong speed. Bolted in second up before having a few traffic issues up the fence when third in much stronger company. She’s a better horse when allowed to settle back and come to outside for her run which she should be able to do drawn near the outside. Suited getting back to 1400 and if she can find some cover early will fly home.
R5- Best Bet: FIERY WATER has contested two really strong races this campaign and looks hard to beat in this. Beat Enduring Moment when winning a maiden first up with that horse running two big races subsequently before running a handy race behind Approach and Annihilator who have both run really well since. That was in a class three and is well placed back into a class one and should appreciate the rise to 1300.
R6- SHOWZALI had to do it the hard way last start, leading into a strong headwind and doing it in quick time. Held out all but Native Chimes on that occasion and this field doesn’t look a great deal stronger. Drawn wide in twelve but with a lack of speed in the race she should be able to find her way across either on the fence or breezing. Continues to get in with light weights after the claim and will win a race like this sooner or later.
R7- MARXIAN looks really well placed back into a class three with 59kg. Freshened after a disappointing run in listed grade and returned at 1650 when leading up a handy field before leading over 2000 in Saturday grade when going very quick and sticking on really well for second beating Staaden who bolted in over the weekend. Rolls forward again from an outside gate and if Abeldane comes out should get it a lot cheaper.

Our best two senior rides were all over the state as early apprentices Harvey. Pike. just from memory Cockell took Pike outback for fair while and P.Harvey's dad the same.
But just going back to apprenticeship leader board at completion of 2006--2007 season .these apprentices now --- there pecking order should be on show as seniors
Here's was top 20------- Valas,. Gilchrist, J.Hill,
R.Rhodes,A.Kennedy,R.Markou, D.Luiciani,R.Bynder,M.Ewe,S Cull, C.Chatfield.R.Supian C.Power,M.Weiszbach,I Dauti J.Masters P.Randall T.Maor, D.Masdil G.Debari
Be lucky if anymore then 3or4 of that list ride in races anywhere -ewe rides in Singapore.
So whatever the reason just shows its not that easy to cut the mustard.
