I would love to know the watering regime that happens at Ascot.
I have some really unusual numbers that don't make a lot of sense.....unless!
My average going numbers are near identical for Belmont and Ascot midweek meetings.
For Saturdays, Ascot average is about 10 metres faster than the equivalent at Belmont.
If midweek is the same then would expect Saturdays to be so too.
Makes me wonder when irrigation occurs and amount applied.
Part of the reason would be that Ascot has a higher overall standard than Belmont where horse quality is concerned, but that is already accounted for.
Thinking that maybe they want fast times for the big meetings so perhaps less water applied late in week compared to early???
In fact I have this really interesting statistic that would love to understand.
Nearly all my fastest going figures for Belmont are for midweek quality meetings.
For Ascot all my fastest are for the Saturday standard meetings.
Weird and doubt very much it is just coincidental.
I can think of one place I would love to stick a sprinkler!!
Actually I was just looking at the Victorian ratings for those invaders.
Had to have a chuckle.
Your handicappers do not want a WA horse to win, or why then would he say there is only .5 kg between Victoria and WA.
Their ratings have jumped a lousy 1 point only.
If I was a WA trainer I would be furious that they are handing out free invitations to the eastern state horses at the expense of their own.
.5kg indeed!!!
Knock it off Mr Hunter, surely you live in fantasy or cloud cuckoo land if you honestly believe that to be correct.
I must be old fashioned, as I always thought the purpose of handicapping was to handicap.
Seemingly it is no longer so.
If a WA horse wins the race, it in no way alters the fact that he is dreaming.
Megatic.
All American.
Grand Nirvana.
    8)
Danger GS.
right...right?!
hmm i think ill go for tarzi
All American
Snipers Bullet
Lords Ransom - best roughie. Maybe be aiming at Pth Cup but could go well fresh.
As with most years luck in running to decide the outcome!
Wrt watering, I'm sure they will still apply more! Drainage was over- engineered when new track put in, it drains too quick!
Aside from that, he's not good enough for this.
Grand Nirvana is the best of the locals for mine. Comes into the race very fit and with luck in running would have won either of his last two lead up races. Hopefully the barrier will not disadvantage him.
Anyone heading to the cas today for the preview show?
I'm hoping to get there
