You don't fool me Mr Lordwater
Years schooling would likely show no correlation to intelligence.
But why, if you went to grade 5 did you name the subject grade 6?
Just to show education and intelligence are not the same; I only got to grade eight!!
And we are both pretty smart if you ask me!! 8)
I am suitably chastised.
In watching the replay on the PR site, I thought for Snipers Bullet to be able to run away at the top of the straight and hold off the bunch so easily was either a very good performance from him, or a different class horse was trying to chase him down.
I don't think on review, that this race will become known as a "classic" Railway
However what the public was served up as "top class", was anything but in review. The so called interstate raiders, were nothing more than passengers. The Race this year did not have the depth of last year, something I eluded to prior to Saturday, and that was proven in running.
Just because you run for $1M, doesn't ensure the quality being that of a Group 1, and that was proven on Saturday.
Hopefully this week is just as good, especially in the Ascot Summer Party marquee.
I'll actually be celebrating my 40th if anyone wants to buy me a drink, not that i'll need many after the 3 hours of drinks included :abeer:
No doubt about having a rock star, it does bring people. To see Jimmy Barnes for $30 most would say who cares about the horses
Who cares if the race wasn't top class. they got a huge crowd and thats what you have been banging on about for ages. Tete your main gripe has been the lack of people on course. They do a promotion, get a huge crowd and you pick on the race.
Come on, try and see some positives for once.
If anyone associated with PR marketing reads stuff on this site, you could probably get a bigger bang for your buck with a popular artist that isn't a washed up has been
Sorry any Jimmy Barnes fans....
The Winterbottom is shaping up to be sensational aswell, Waratah's vs The Kid vs Lucky Secret, Ortensia, Thommo back and some other quality locals in there to boot.
Theyll never top last year, but this is pretty mouthwatering nonetheless.
But lets have some honesty, this was not the best Railway, probably not even in the top ten, as far as quality goes.
I hope they convert a few of the people who went for the first time to come again, even the plea from the winning jockey to go out and buy a horse probably did more in real terms to promote the race, as his comments got mainstream media coverage.
However, even last year with Takeover Target & Apache Cat running, numbers were disappointing at the Winterbottom meeting, this year they will be less again. simply chucking money at horse racing is not enough to get people to come along. One good horse from Melbourne with maybe one good local challenger will not quite get to last years heights.
I know the top floor would probably prefer Mantovani, but they would struggle to get 4,000 on course for a similar such act.
Michael Buble or Robbie Williams might get a differant result, but more coin needed than Jimmy.
Try and be positive remember the only one to make $$$$ from negatives was Kodak my friend !!!!
Running in the Railway was just sending him around, he should be having a rest after being up for a long time. He almost looked dour on Saturday, making up some ground on the leaders that had got away in the turn and finshing at the tail end of the leading bunch in 8th place.
Hopefully he comes back in several months full piss and vinegar.
Maybe if you looked at some stats first it might help support your opinion about the strength of races. Try the racing and sports website links http://www.racingandsports.com.au/breeding/openqual.asp?rid=754724 and compare to http://www.racingandsports.com.au/breeding/openqual.asp?rid=798895 as an example. You will see that not much different to last years field.
Come on, just because there was no media hyped 'superstar' emerging from the race does not mean it was weak.
Ask any trainer if they would like to have a runner in it and I think I know the answer, but unfortunately not many can even make it into that field. It was a good 1600m WA Group 1 race that attracted sound eastern states and some of the better local mile performers.
I would have liked it much better if that lowly rated 84! horse CC had a decent run.
I would likely have been counting my cash as had to have interest bets at odds available.
I noticed the handicapper has finally come to his senses,.... partly anyway.
My guess is you would still be drunk if had have!!!
It goes without saying that every Trainer in the State would love to have a runner in the race.
