Shamardal and Street Cry

Breeding
edited November -1 Breeding
3/4 brothers who look like being very good sires

Both have had good horses manly overeast but also in WA

Both had service fees greatly increased for 2010

Comments

  • I disagree - 11 stakeswinners from just two seasons indicates its going to produce a lot of quality runners - Faint Perfume winning the Oaks was probably the sealer

    11TH STAKESWINNER FOR SHAMARDAL
Femina Fashion (3 f So Tempted,
by Jeune (GB)) became the latest
    stakeswinner for Darley’s second
    season sire Shamardal when winning
the Gold Coast Bracelet (Listed) on
Saturday. She is the sixth Australian
    stakeswinner this season for Darley’s
Shamardal, who currently sits third on
the leading second season sires table.
  • similar price you are looking at Stratum, Exceed and Excel, Commands, Flying Spur etc

who is to say that Shamardal wont go to $133k like his brother - then everyone would be thinking the $66k was a bargain
  • Flying Spur is massively out of favour now - seen as too old - gone from $133k down to $55k
  • FIRST EUROPEAN GROUP 1 WINNER FOR SHAMARDAL
Darley?s second season sire Shamardal recorded his first European Group 1 winner at the weekend when Lope de Vega (Ire) (3 c Lady Vettori (GB), by Vettori (Ire)) won the Poule d?Essai des Poulains at Longchamp on Sunday, emulating his sire who himself won the race in 2005. Shamardal is the sire of 12 individual stakeswinners worldwide.

I guess its hard to put into retro-spect where $66,000 came from, I guess their taking advantage of what he's done so far in 2 crops, andplaces well in the current market of stallions.

    $66,000 - Sharmadal- Proven
    $44,000 - Testa Rossa - Proven 70% w/r, 26 SW's
    $50,000 - Manhattan Rain - Unproven
    $50,000 - Sebring - Unproven
    $35,000 - Wanted - Unproven
    $30,000 - Oratorio - Proven
    $27,500 - Snitzel - Proven
    $20,000 - Nicconi - Unproven
    $16,500 - Danzero - Proven
    $8,800 - Danasinga Proven 33 SW's

Was just having a look at the sire tables and looked at the 3yo's. His strike rate this year for the 3yo's is 67%. You would be happy with that stat for a sire over the course of their career, let alone for one racing year.

    Shamardal (USA), 2002, by Giant's Causeway AUS 27,500 48/32 5/9 2/1 3,249,275 Faint Perfume, $1,412,450

Also his weanlings averaged just shy of $100k at the recent MM sales and with no yearling crop this year to go by I can see the justification of the $66k service fee.

I'm looking forward to seeing Street Hero's first crop.

His race record is good, won a Grp1 at 2 before placing in the Breeder's Cup Juvenile.

    6 starts - 1win, 5 placings (1win, 2placing at Grp1 level)

    $12,000+GST stud fee -

  • ZENYATTA HORSE OF THE YEAR
Zenyatta (Street Cry) was crowned North America?s Horse of the Year on Monday night in Florida. The award controversially eluded the champion mare the year prior when 3YO filly Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia D?Oro) won the coveted title. Champion older horse was won by Breeders? Cup Classic winner Blame (Arch) who was the only horse to ever defeat Zenyatta.

Shame to see Carlton House beaten in the Derby winner flew last furlong maybe he will be a 2000m type.
Splash Point also favourite for the UAE Derby out of Danehill mare the sire is very versatile gets all types of runners.
Pitt Street and Midnight Martini good winners over the mile yesterday.
