One good outcome - (hopefully) they will now pick our ODI and T20 teams on ODI and T20 ability !!!
Not just the test players in different clothes
  • the even better news is that Cook and Anderson are going home
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
Is part of the reason why they're dominating us - England actually recognises that Tests, ODI's and T20s are all different games - and have teams for each seperately (hence players concentrate on their speciality)

surely cameron white will be the captain, could be a nice stepping stone for him to be captain of the test team eventually.

Exactly Tivers, pretty much our whole test team goes into matches coming off one-day cricket or even t20 cricket and we wonder why our batsman can't build big innings (Watson). Most of our Test team should be going back now and playing Sheild cricket for the remainder of the season, actually practice playing the longer form. Bowlers practice building pressure over long periods and batsman practice playing long innings, if they go back and can't do it there then we know we need to replace them. We could pick a very good team for one-day cricket which includes no-one from the test team, Paine, Birt, Ferguson, Marsh, Pattinson, White ect so this is not that unrealistic.

I said it before but i would goes as far as when we identify a future test player like Maddinson or Beer, theyshould not be playing in the big bash. Do we need these guys developing bad habits (all our spinners bowl darts and our batsman have loose techniques) so when they are picked to play for Australia they don't perform.

None / zero of the team on the field today should play in the upcoming T20's (for a rest if nothing else)

As for the ODI's - only Hussey, Haddin and maybe Smith should be considered (and Smith only because forget it re tests with him)

    Probably add Watson

Ommitted him specifically, as he's probably #1 example - needs to make a choice (which form he wants to play)

They persisted with three I see.............

David Warner, Shane Watson, Cameron White (capt), David Hussey, Aaron Finch, Steven Smith, Tim Paine (wk), Steve O'Keefe, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, James Pattinson, Shaun Tait.

Can cop the first two, but they got to be kidding re Johnson ???
    He will get slapped !

    Ashes Combined 11

    A.Cook
    A.Strauss
    J.Trott
    K.Pietersen
M.Hussey (but he is lucky Bell was batting at 6, not 5. Fell away badly last two tests)
    I. Bell
B.Haddin (perhaps controversial, but he was the more consistant of the two keepers, and faced much better bowling etc)
    T.Bresnan
    J.Anderson
    G.Swann
    C.Tremlett

Don't understand how Haddin gets dropped from t20 :eh:

Surely him and Paine can play in the same side :?:

Dont think he is a selector and obviously you dont know the guy.
I wouldnt call a brown noser someone who threatens to take the then captain of the Aust cricket team (AB) out the back of the WACA and beat the crap out of him

Wasnt he labelled Funky the brown nose dwarf ??? wasnt blessed with ability was a grinder surley there is a better batting coach around than him !!!
  • TheFunksterTheFunkster    3,840 posts
    Not sure about that.
But do know he has a martial arts black belt and wanted to belt AB after AB sledged the crap out of him in a shield game and when he eventually holed out then AB said "that's why you will never play for Australia whilst I am captain"
I dont know how good a batting coach he is (technically), but I think one of the big reasons for his appoointment is the mental aspect.
No one trained harder or was better mentally prepared than JL. He definitely achieved the most from his ability.
    And a good bloke

What happened to Nannes in the T20 format?
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
Isn't in consideration for a Test spot, so doesn't get considered...............go figure !
  • good cricketers can play any type of game

2 test cricketers in PRIOR and HILFENHAUS are starring in the 20/20 tonite
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
Keepers can get away with it as they're not (as) accountable for their wicket in tests.

I battle to follow your logic re Hilfy.............might be going ok tonight, but was crap in the tests.
Can hardly claim he STARS in both !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't tell me Johnson a whiff of this bloke in T20.
    Selectors got no idea !!!

funnier selection today - Hauritz !
Got dropped because he went crap in India - can't bowl on subcontinent pitches.
Bringing him back in now for a trial for a spot for the World Cup, which is being played in.......................?

    F Me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When did MJ last play a T20 ?

There's your problem - selecting on name, not output !!!

Australia (probable) 1 David Warner, 2 Shane Watson, 3 Aaron Finch, 4 David Hussey, 5 Cameron White (capt), 6 Steven Smith, 7 Tim Paine (wk), 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Steve O'Keefe, 10 Brett Lee, 11 Shaun Tait.

I like the look of that team, some serious batting there, will win tonight.
