i'll leave the word 'best' out, but it just so happened i was looking at this stuff just this morning.

some guy call dan something or rather appears to be quite good at it, but that will be a result of who is doing the riding for when the money comes, so not sure it should count for anything.

Jet, you missed the best money rider in Sydney late 70's-80's.
A bloke called Les Masters...hardly ever missed...used to team with Tubby Turner to bring off some massive goes.

jack marshall NONE OF THESE WOULD BE CONSIDERED TOP ECHELON
    bernie duggan
    george woods

most times Harpers were plonked they won, no matter who rode them

Peter O'Loughlin please Falc, rode 1 important winner until Dettori came here and then pulled his irons up and won a derby not long after, a good.
    rider is a wrap.

Bloke that just passed away Sheldon Geyer was a very good rider at setting one up, and was told that by a good money rider . Blokes who rode in Perth in the 60;s 70's. 80's and so on, wouldn't know pressure riding for big money, its when they go overseas and the BIG money goes on is when you see just how they cope

Blokes like Donnelly, Sestich, Millington, Moran, Brosnan, Staples (few I missed) all rode better when the $$$ was big

I'm only 35 and have always followed Patrick Carbery and still do, one of the most underrated jockeys in WA, can always spot him in a race by the way he sits on his horses, his ability to get to the fence when he wanted no matter what barrier he drew...won most major races in WA and is far from finished yet.

pistol, p o'l was a great money rider...
fairs print and other good ones trained by abo.
rode for dave clarke (not one of the 5.. ) dave would wind them up like a clock and p.o would steer them.
if hearts'n'diamonds wins the railway i almost get a house...beaten in world record time by tudor mak.... :x
  • World Record time, now I am sure you must have had a dream, besides Ingram the rest were country riders

The same Dave Clark that was a wharfie and then trained for Harold Jarvis?

Jack Marshall - father of John Marshall who won the Melbourne Cup in 1999. Jack won the Bunbury Cup (I think) and John was born and bred in Perth but moved to Sydney to do his jockeys apprentiship. He won the Sydney Jockeys Premiership in 1986. Won 41 Group 1s in all and won a few Group 1s in Hong Kong. Rode Rogan Josh in the 1999 Melbourne Cup.

Was Bart's stable jockey in the 1980s and had great success on one of Barts best - Beau Zam.

    Cheers,
    PC.

    You arent wrong!

Shifty as too lol. Les lived just up the road from me, i strapped a few horses that he rode in the early 90's. i remember one....started fav at ncstle, was a maiden. He gave it every chnce, come back in and said " this things no good".

Mark de montfort also had a similar rep. Funny, because i thought he was a very average jock.

    C. Dinn was one i used to follow as a kid, going to the tab on Saturday with my mum.

He was messed up with the moran family in melbourne.
