Hi all

Some friends and I want to get a greyhound but would like to do it pretty cheaply. What's the best way to go about this?

Thanks :)

Like most things in life, it's so much more enjoyable when you can afford not to do it "on the cheap".

Keep saving your pennies justrandom and one day you can do it properly.

Syndications are a good way to go, ie - you and your mates can buy into a share of a better dog/litter with your limited funds.

There are several decent ones in Perth - I've had dogs with Rapt In Racing for the last few years and I've always been happy with the way he gets his syndicates going....drop them an email through their website and I'm sure you'll get some decent advice, at the very least.

I've got some pups coming along shortly and I will be leasing the bitchs out till there 31/2 yr's old or selling the dogs for $1500 each.

I'm sure by posting this I'm breaking some sort of rules but a lease means there's no upfront cost and I'm happy to do so if I know there going to a good rearer.

I didn't think that greyhounds WA couldn't recommend trainers or pups etc.

If someone is after a pup maybe THE WOOFER is the place to look seeming it's published by greyhounds WA ?

The Woofer is published by Greyhounds WA. If you speak to the Racing Manager Dennis O'Brien he can provide advice on best way to get involved and provide a list of suitable trainers/breeders etc for your requirements.

Stick to syndicates for starters @justrandom, then if you enjoy it and do well, look at going in further then.

10% share in reasonably good dogs around $400-$500, most trainers are 50/50 on prizemoney - so little ongoing costs

I disagree. Buy a pup with your mates than give it to a good rearer than a good trainer.

If you don't have the money than a syndicate is a good idea but ONLY a trusted syndicater.
