500k for Hard Ball Get you couldn't sell it quick enough enough for that sort of money.

I am just realistic about what a horse is worth and would refuse to pay massive overs for a horse such as it and I also repeatedly stated (which has been conveniently forgotten or ignored by some) that it would also depend on whether you were in it just for the fun or if the money was a life changer.

As for Luckygray I declared it elsewhere on debut out of its trials and had a a very good result on it at about 8 bucks something. and it showed right from the outset it's turn of foot was very special and you could see that it was still very immature.
If your eye isn't sharp enough to tell the difference after their first couple of starts between the hard ball get and it's a lovely horse but no champion and horse such as Luckygray, your form analysis isn't that great.

As for Aussie accusing me of playing the man talk about the pot calling the kettle black, he's does nothing but attack everything I post.

I'm sorry if some on here can't handle a realistic evaluation of Hard Ball Get's relative ability and I like the horse as a horse but if someone offered me 300k for it, I would sell in a heartbeat.

You have to win a lot of races here to be able to achieve that and it would probably be capable of winning somewhere around that if it continues to improve and develop etc but you have to take into account training fees and all the associated costs in the interim and a system that crucifies horses with potential.

Luckygray is a serious Group 1 horse who given the right conditions and assuming that he's in good enough order to reproduce his best form then he's capable of winning a Group 1 anywhere in Australia from 1200m -1600m.

If he's in good order and runs in the Newmarket handicap for instance first up I would be more than happy to give it a very serious chance in the race.

As for Troy Turner he's realistic enough to know that he's more than competent and that's he's probably a bit below the best and I like Troy and get along well with him and I'm quite sure he couldn't care less about what someone on here says about his riding.

His style suits certain horses and as such is usually more effective on them than other horses with different racing patterns and when he rides well he can ride very well at times but when down on confidence he can also ride very poorly as can most of them.

The horse is turning into a bit of a hard ball get for Hong Kong!

agree with Andrew.....about the value of HBG...I'd sell it in a heart beat for 300k...just way too many hurdles to get that sort of money in the bank

HK rarely pay the correct value for a horse, it's not about money for them, if they want something they most times get it. 500k for a horse for HK is peanuts.

Andrew seeing that you are such a wonderful judge what have been your best purchases?

All owners are ok with the sale - just waiting on the money before scratching from tomorrow

Think the 700k sensei was referring to could be the with prizemoney already won....

Was it around 60k purchase price....

Has already won just under 220k in 4 starts...

Plus the 500k sale would make 720k of a 60k purchase, obviously the costs of training also come out of that.

But owners have had 3 wins, incl 1 at Group 3 Level...had a super time, now have the chance to cash in.....

I am told the trainer advised very strongly to sell....

Also should not discredit the horse in all this, just saying that when stupid money is offered such as this, you need to keep a clear head...

In comparison to a stable mate in Power Princess which has just passed the 700k mark....Could HBG reach the same level as her, would think never in its wildest dreams....

And thats just to equal the amount offered. This money is guaranteed in the bag.....right now.....these guys unfortunatly may learn the hard way...

A nice little 5% earn for Aquanita - of the difference between the sale price and the purchase price

Been told by a very reliable source the offer was $300k boys so let's not get too carried away

I could understand why the low % owners are holding out.... they are obviously just in it for the fun, and have enjoyed the ride they are on. A small percentage of whatever the sale price is is a bit like kissing your sister..... not much in it.
However if I owned the horse outright I would have sold it for half the price that is being touted..... and thrown the missus in as well.
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
if i was throwing the missus in as well it would have ensured the price was halfed..ony way they could afford all that bourbon... [-O<

    300k...still sell, sell,sell

your reliable source is incorrect, 500k wast he offer and accepted, the syndicate were locked in a meeting till late last night, wih still no result. Luckily common sense prevailed this morning and good news for everyone. Little bit of sugar for the Miller camp;)

well his secret was safe with me as there were 4 or 5 posters who mentioned the 500k before I did, did you ever think maybe he told u 300k because he wanted everyone to be confused as there have been 3 prices thrown up, 300k (they wouldnt sell for 300k) 500k and 700k

should sell because they could end up racing in Albany this time next year

Now all they have to do is pass the vet test for HK and the 99 xrays they take. Hardest place to sell a horse to but great money.

Except for a Stratum filly which sold in the Perth MM in 2011. I inspected her and really liked her, but she had one hoof turned out. She sold for 50k to Simon. A quote from Simon regarding the filly was, "you don't know unless you have a shot at the stumps". Oh, and the filly is Darlington Abbey!!!!!!
