I don't disagree with that comment but could have won today with a better ride could have been put into race not reefed out back.Would have been able to hold a posey off midfield easy did not need to be that far back.

Mailman this horse is a milk drinker. Could have the world perfect run and still won't win.

The well-backed Fanicio was the unlucky horse in that race,The rider wanted to come to the outside of eventual winner The Corporation  in the straight but changed his mind when that horse drifted out. Fanicio made its run inside that horse and was infront before and after the line but not where it counts, unfortunately.

just watched the replay, if malaika could of settled midfield instead of stone motherless last she just wins, especially if she actually carried 52.5kgs like she was suppose too. No formguide i used told me pateman couldnt make the weight and could only claim 0.5kg, they all said 2kg claim.. wa racing is a joke.

Tesseract, Pateman's MRW has been 54kg for ages. The official racebook shows his MRW. Maybe you need a better formguide.

Jockey: MITCHELL PATEMAN (2 allow) MRW 54.0

and that was straight from the racebook on cris, so they did tell you, you just didn't look.
if he should have been allowed to ride without the full claim is another topic, but the relevant info WAS there.

oh dear i need to read before i post.

i just saw rodent name in a mailman thread and naturally assumed rodent was having a go at mailman! =))

and the info is also on cris where the weights and allowances of the apprentices is there for anybody that can be bothered.

the only reason Malaika ran 3rd was that  the rider of  the 4th horse , stopped riding.

the difference says 1/4 length but it is well short of that.

I dont use RWWA Carey so you can stop with the condescending attitude towards me, i find it ridiculous if you have to look at every app's MRW to see if he/she can make the claim when you should be able to trust the formguide which states he will be claiming 2kg's but does not, ill also let you know that this race was just something i noticed when going through the WA raceguide and thought malaika would be hard to beat with 52.5kg's, i did not bet on the race so im not sour, i just wanted to keep an eye on what happened but i missed the race anyway and was shocked to see malaika still lost but now finding out it never carried 52.5kg i shake my head in disaray. I thought it was strange it was still paying $7's when i thought it should be half that..

if that was condescending then you don't know what the word means, it was simply stating that the info was available in several places, and has been for yonks.
    was rodent condescending too??
i apologise for speaking, next time you can find it yourself.

Would have beat them if boy hill was on, even if last prep they were winding her up way too late and finishing on the heels of the first few, makes you wonder if the actually want to win races with that horse

Hey Tesste's  The MRW is a grand invention first developed in  WA mid '90s -  you are the one being ridiculous  if you don't avail this information and blindly believe that all apprentices will / can claim their full allowance.

    More fool you !!! IMO

but he's allowed to do that raco...well he has been doing it for years and only occasionally chipped about it..it's part of the WA style of riding..normal defence of not wanting to flog a dead horse, but then again wasn't even question according to the report.

Oh and i was talking through my kick as i had it running into a nice place all up with Mantango....

he stopped riding rio, and then half heartedly got going again, but it was too late.
stewards must have decided they have been working too hard lately, and overlooked.

Not to mention the fact that its a proven non winner 4 wins and16 placing from 39 starts, those stats tell a story it doesn't know how to find the line but in saying that it's racing very well currently and may pinch a weak one soon and they will only get weaker over the next few weeks.

Tha's a surprise normally they're all over Harvey when he does that.
  • raconteurraconteur    610 posts
...i agree PH does it a lot - but surely when IT DOES cost a horse a dividend bearing place - they have to at least mention something....did they any of them graduate from Stevie Wonder's film viewing course ?

In Harvey's defence he only stopped for two maybe three strides but then pushed it out hands and heels, I don't think he expected the horse to switch off as quickly as it did but still you shouldn't stop riding them until you hit the line.

Speaking of not taking full claim, saw this on "just horse racing"

Apprentice jockey Tom Sadler added to his unenviable record with the stewards when he copped a 16-meeting suspension and a $1000 fine in separate incidents at Flemington on Saturday.

The suspension for careless rising arose from an incident in the Winter Championship final in which Sadler rode Under The Hat.

He pleaded guilty to causing interference to two runners near the 1400m.

Stewards also found him guilty of failing to claim his full 2kg allowance when he rode Midnight Glory in the Rising Stars Final.

Sadler claimed only 0.5kg in what was his fifth similar offence in the past two months.

we all know PH does this always - but on Operationjnal, he got caught with his pants down and it cost the horse 3rd ! Yet not a word from les souris aveugles.

Watch the last race, he does it on Sweet Serenity as well. Lucky to keep third, i would have jumped the fence if his lack of vigor cost him third.....
