Damien, it would appear that she may be extremely well weighted in the Roma Cup and therefore expected to win. A win in the Roma Cup getting weight from lower rated gallopers may not see an increase in her rating at all.

So why would she not get touched up for winning the Roma Cup ? Like Legless just said, beating them again plus Luckygray and I couldn't understand how they wouldn't rate her close to 108.

I think the eyes of the East Coast are already on her to take over her campaign. She can come back for a crack at the Wniterbottom but she can pick up some handy races over there I am sure of that.

She was a filly the first time I looked at her....... but he is right, her future is in the East. After the Roma Cup, should she win, the WA Handicapper will crucify her.

Future in the East ??? on winning a crappy sprint in Northam is a long  long way from being competitive in the East ,just ask S Miller every star he takes over there  struggles to weigh in  Plat Rock went ok yesterday but he wont be beating the better ones ,could Magnifisio beat Smoko if Smoko stays sound  Magnifisio wouldn't  see which way her went IMO

Racing is filled with 'if's'. So far Smoko has won five restricted class races up to and including 78+. That is hardly the same as a three time listed winner that will be rated around 101 tomorrow morning.

Jut for one moment consider what her future is. It is as a broodmare. With an opportunity to join a highly credentialed stable in Sydney or Melbourne, she could enhance her WA black type in real terms and in the process make her a valuable commodity as a future damline for her owner or whoever may buy her. But staying in WA won't improve her much in that respect from now on. Winning the Roma Cup would be a nice finale but it is either go to the breeding barn this year whilst on top or travel.

Now I don't know anymore than anyone else on here in respect to her future with the exception of  Whereamigoingwrong. So I am only speculating. I'm sure he will be on a bit later and can discuss your rating of the mare more in depth than I can.

plat rock was mentioned above...this one will be in a similar rating situation to her even if she doesn't win the Roma...For that reason alone she should head east or the barn..over 100 rated horses are poorly catered for over here..

I did say "a win in the Roma Cup getting weight from lower rated gallopers"....obviously if she beats higher rated gallopers such as Luckygray, things would be different.

I did see an article where he was aimed at the 3 winter features - the way she is going it seems she will be hard to beat in the 1200m Roma

Smoko I respect however a horse that beats a good horse hands & heels ????
Also pressure applied to horses with issues, need I say more.
Thanks for all your support. LOL

Also I always let my trainers decide the future of the horse. Yes I do have input, but respect the trainers views.
Anyway lovely day got to celebrate so byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I thought Travinator was still a great run, beaten by a better one obviously, but he's come back tops

I see there are quite a few horses who have run home in the 32 second range yet it says it was a good3, where they running on a road? Was there a hurricane up the straight? Are these times correct???

The should make it four features because I think the Hyperion Stakes(1600m, WFA) & the Strickland Stakes(2000m, WFA) are his best chances. He will have his chance to finish over the top fresh in the Roma Cup but what kind of start will he be conceding to Magnifisio? Also his effort in the 2012 Belmont Sprint probably took the edge of him in the Hyperion and he was far from convincing. At this point I'd want to back Magnifisio in the Roma Cup and Elite Belle in the Belmont Sprint. Maybe then we will get a better price about Luckygray if he's been beaten a couple of times.

I'm notafarmer but unless the padfock fire behind the track wasn't deliberately started, would've thought old mate cocky could have burnt off tomorrow. Don't think smoke in the air would help the horse's much.

Mate they are behind the 8 ball out in the wheat belt lot of farmers got caught out by the 50 mil rain event it's burn baby burn on any good day none wasted every day counts this time of year

The reason they burn is we have a lot of bio mass on the ground after a bumper season the idea of burning is to clean that up so

1- the seeder is able to get thru the ground without been bound up

2- to allow pre emergent herbicides to get at the weeds better without the trash in the way also to burn weed seeds

Some fathers also burn to reduce frost risk it's part n parcel of the game this time if year the further you go into the wheat bent the more smoke you will see tho most should have burned by now in readiness for seeding

now days a last resort if it's too thick for seed germination reasons , as has more benefits left if thin enough than burnt science now shows

    Stakes Double for Magnus

    Breednet - Media Release - Monday, 5 May 2014

Perth mare Magnifisio capped a stakes-winning double for Magnus in the LR Northam Stakes (1100m) on Sunday.

    Magnus

    Magnus
    The
Jim Taylor trained sprinter tracked Travinator before letting down to
score by over a length in 62.21s. She would have clocked a time much
closer to Vain Raider’s track record of 61.75s if Jason Brown had ridden
her right out in the closing stages.

Magnifisio (4m Magnus – Ifestio by Key Business) was racing first-up
since New Year’s Day and had to shoulder 57.5kg. It was her fourth win
on end after summer carnival highlights in the LR Summer Scorcher and LR
    Crawford Stakes.

Overall, she has built up a 17: 9-4-2 record and earned $488,500 for
managing part-owner Alan MacAlister. "She’s a great filly,” Taylor said.
"I’ve been very happy with her but giving Travinator 3kg was never
    going to be easy.”

The Rangeview Stud bred mare is from a sister to Taylor’s Group 1
winning sprinter Barakey who is scheduled to return from a hoof ailment
in time for the LR Goodwood Sprint at Belmont in August.

Magnus started the weekend with Alpha Beat’s Listed breakthrough in
the Adelaide Guineas (1600m) at Morphettville on Saturday. The Anthony
Cummings trained galloper flew home to catch Lady Lakshmi right on the
    line.

Alpha Beat (3g Magnus – Silverbeat by Distant Music) was bred by
Dorrington Park owner Robert Crabtree who raced Magnus to a Group 1
victory in The Galaxy. He kept a share in Alpha Beat after selling the
Guineas winner as a yearling for $120,000 at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne
    Premier Sale.

Magnus will stand for a service fee of $16,500 (inc gst) at Eliza Park International this year.

WHY do people like using foreign names without any education.

magnifisio is a mare but the "o" signifies a male gender she should be magnifisia, ""a" being the female.

same sa due sasso....sasso means a stone or a pebble in singular form...eg correct name is uno(1) sasso.

the plural..due (2) should be due sassi...."sassi" being the plural for stones.

    correct, senor gangemi?

    thus endeth the lesson....

I think Alan when he named her was concentrating on her being a Magnus out of Ifestio. It is easy to see where he arrived at a name how he had come to that.

Yeah i know it's a hard lifestyle P.T I was just wondering about the impact of the smoke on the horse's. Wasn't on track so dunno if it was smokey or not. It's the only thing I could talk about about northam on sunday not 1 winner :-((

Going over the Northam results, one thing sticks out. The sectionals. Maidens breaking 33, 2200m stayers breaking 34. Has the curator forgotten where the tap is?
