Up at work this week so not a lot of time for form but I think Pride Of Colorado is a good bet as there looks to be a lot of early speed. Going to give Another Vinnie a second chance as he should be able to lead tonight. If dearborn can slot in early he will finish off well and Macom Georgia's class should see him home in the last.

Looks like a pretty decent nights racing.

Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows if there was any announcement about The Ragpickers Dream intending to hand up? I mentioned last week that in no way did I think Northview Punter and Our Arlington was tem driving, just a good bit of driving by both drivers.

Tonight however is a different story, there is no way The Ragpickers Dream would have handed up to Dashing Cristian if it wasn't it's stable mate. Yes it was a bit slow out but she handed up, I think it's pretty poor by them. Was looking forward to sitting down and watching tonight but that has put me right off.

Dashing Christian $17 to $2.80 on BET365 suggested that was always going to happen.

Not me casting stones. Can only suggest that The Ragpicker's Dream is no champion. Form has been very average and with all due respect, L Jones is no Chris Lewis.

Ragpickers dreams was favourite and dropped back in class. Last time it drew barrier 1 it lead and won..Dashing christians form is 00.. Your point with l. jones is completely irrelevant she is a junior driver for the stable and isnt the worst out there...The winner was 17.0 into 3.50 and they were taking the 7.0 6.0 and 4.50 on the way down even the 3.80 was taken..If dashing christian wasnt a stable mate do you think ragpickers would have sat???...Transperancy is required for the punters.. Im sure lauren was instructed to take a sit,

You are spot on it's no champion BUT in any other situation it wouldn't have hand up to a horse like Dashing Christian in it's form unless it was a stable mate. You have your chance to lead and win a race you take it. Or you hand up to the well backed stable mate, ensure a good finish position for both horses and pull off a good bet and in doing so put off the rank and file punter.

Whether it is team driving or not as they say it's all about perception, if there was any intention to hand up it should have been stated.

Brown coped 3 weeks for an incompetent drive a couple of weeks ago, Jones should cop the same.

Nothing will come of it.

In Lauren Jones defence she is a young girl working for the hall stable ...She would have been told by her boss to take a sit... The trainer should be fined not the driver ..

I don't know if she was told to take a sit and either do you. If she was, perhaps they thought it was its best chance of winning. They obviously thought the stablemate was way overs (well someone did).

I'm always in a quandary in regards to trainers having to declare specifically how their horse is going to be driven. If something doesn't go to plan, you look just as guilty as if you don't say anything. Changes in racing patterns happens frequently in both codes and I get just as frustrated as you. What we need to remember though is in many cases where a trainer has multiple runners, they often have different owners who always expect their horse to finish in the best possible position whenever it races. If they are not happy, I would presume the horse wouldn't be where it is.

Most of the time I'm happy to look at it like that but that is because most of the time races are run true i.e. such and such and such horse has brilliant gate speed so he has a challenge for the lead or 1 was slow out and clearly put in a few rough ones so even though expected to he couldn't lead etc tc etc.

In this case though The Ragpickers Dream had enough speed to lead and elected to hand up to the stable mate and I'll say it again if it wasn't the stable mate they would not have handed up. The horse didn't gallop, there was no freak event, the driver voluntarily made the choice to hand up. It is reasonable to expect on their form, their last wins and their gate speed that The Ragpickers Dream would go for an all the way win. If that horse shows the speed to hold up but then hands up it is either a terribly poor drive or an uneven playing field. Both of those two things definitely do not encourage punting.

Unfortunately that's part of it too. The right questions can be asked and at the end of the day it's easy to say Jones is a young driver learning her way, the horse races well with a sit etc etc and the Hall's end up being "reminded by the stewards that they must notify if they intend to drive the horse in a different manor in the future".

I don't want blood, I just don't want it to happen. I love the trots, read any of my form comments here and you can see following them is my hobby. There aren't many of us left! I watch that race and rather than being angry or mad I'm just disappointed and flat. It's a bit like the footy this year, I finally decided to just watch bugger all because I just found myself so disappointed in the umpiring and not enjoying it, best thing I ever did. I don't want to do the same thing with the trots.

Won't be there before Monday but I believe some connections of other horses in the race have expressed their concerns to the stewards.

Just been back through Dashing Christian's front line mobile form since it led and ran 2nd from barrier one in July 2012.

It has had 13 front row draws since and never led or won in any of those starts before last night.

Hard to enthuse over its last four unplaced runs but the $17 to $2.80 told the story before the race.

I didnt think Lauren had a good night

Her drive on Some Kind of Tactics - $42 - ran 4th - should of either won or run 2nd

Im a trifecta - 1st 4 punter - you soon work out which drivers know their form - and take the short cuts to finish in the best possible position-

She drew 9 - ok the no 1 is $1.60 fav and is going to lead on its ear - Chaldea the 8 - leaders back - she draws 9 - the obvious thing is 3 back the pegs - but the obvious to some - isnt obvious to others- so the no 2 says i will take that position and runs 2nd at big odds - even round the home turn - she had the option of cutting the corner - instead goes 8 wide - rattles home for 4th -goodness gracious me

How i look at her handing up the lead - would have been under stable instructions - its not a good look - but in fairness to the Halls and the Bonds - who have multiple runners often in the same race - its very infrequent when that happens

I thought there were 2 other tactically ordinary drives for the night - R Warwick on Burning - Ritchie Bell alluded to it in his call - he got off the pegs early - he was in front of the hot pot - why not go into the breeze ( where he ran a super race last week ) and park the fav 3 deep the last 1000- instead he waited - and ended up there himself - god that was an ordinary drive - from a tactical point of view - you can see why Colin Brown is Bonds no 1 stable driver

Also Another Vinnie ( i grant its not an easy horse to drive ) - but once he led - the driver should have done everything possible ( considering the horse can be untractable) to keep the lead - pull the ear plugs - give it a flick with the whip - oh jeez fair dinkum - how it got crossed - this isnt a leisurely trial - this is competitive racing - just my opinion if that had been Hall jnr - either Suavolko - driving it - even allowing for the fact the horse isnt easy to drive - they would have been just a bit more alert - maybe take the view - im going to keep the lead at all costs - and if it breaks it breaks- so be it

Hahaha Mr Hall wasn't sure who was going to lead and left it up to the drivers, his comments were noted and no further action will be taken.

What a flippin joke! Thanks stewards of GP, I'm done for a fair while, take my money and time elsewhere.

Surely if a horse firms in from 17 to 3 with any betting agency and the stable mate hands up to that horse when it os expected the other horse will lead the stewards will at least look into where that money came from. Why do we actually have stewards? All they ever say is "such and such's comments were noted".

To me this just shows what they think of the rank and file punter. It's all good to look after the big guys but without a strong following of the little guys it's very hard to sustain a sport that doesn't have interest. I'm by no means a big punter but over an average month I probably turn over between $1000 and $1500 a month on a friday night, usually on course and as a play novelties I support the local tote. If I like something I also encourage mates to have a bit of a bet. I'm sure there still a few others lile me out there. I'm not all over the take out rate fot first fours but I think it is pretty high up around the 18% range. Say it's 20%, on A high month that's $300. Say you lose 10 people like me there's $3000 a month, plus what I would spend on food and drink etc. It adds up pritty quick.

I've stated before I think a lot of the times people over reacted to the Hall camp possibly stable driving but in this case seeing as there was a solid bet pulled off and horses were driven differently to what the rank and file may expect all I want is for the stewards to at least look into it so I know when I have a bet I can do it with a reasonable expection that everyone is on an even playing field. They have the power to do so, earn your wage! Keep everyone happy.

Spring has sprung, GP wont be getting more than a fleeting glance from me for a while now as at least in the gallops with big prize money on offer it will be hell for leather for the win.
