With 32 playing finals over four weeks after Jan 4th, holding a spot in the top 32 will be a critical week to week proposition.

    :-? I think we missed a week somewhere - I'm guessing it's finals time :-??

So the first prize of $5 is given at the end of the comp :)

I think it $5 $3 $2 each week for 1st 2nd & 3rd when you have $20 built up you get that credited to your account and its $100 or something like that for the overall winner I think?

    Damien,

As I am sure you are fully aware Sportingbet has several very large sponsorship deals currently in the Eastern States with naming rights and we do a lot in terms of events etc with each of the clubs to help build crowds in particular the younger members over there which are the future of racing.
As you may have seen in my post I have just started and obviously with the current situation here in Perth is very different to the Eastern States but we look forward to working with all stake holders and doing what we can to value ad to the industry in WA.

    Alistair,

It is a simple enough question for mine. Corporate Bookmakers, whether they want to or not, contribute nothing to WA Racing in all the years they have operated on our races. The decline in turnover has largely been attributed to Corporates by RWWA and Perth Racing in defence of their declining fortunes.

What I would like to happen, is that whenever you are required to pay a licence fee or product fee or whatever it is they want to call it, that Corporates as a whole contribute something to these years where nothing has been returned.

I know quite a few people who talk about prices they get on certain races or bonuses for being an owner of a horse that wins a race etc, but they are usually the same people who are very quick to offer an opinion on who what or why is to blame for our stakes money not being up to par with the Eastern States.

Racing is a very selfish game at it's core. To me it is just business, if you want credibility and be part of the landscape of WA Racing, then you have to contribute.

    Damien & The Falcon,

I would be more than happy to respond as I have done so thus far but I have been notified that my posts will be removed yet Damiens remain.
I honestly can't see why as I was not rude to anyone and I was merely explaining where things stand and how we are looking to move forward. I find it very strange that the post which explains my background and passion for racing and breeding was also deleted which actually shows how much has been put into the industry by my own family and my understanding of the volatility the industry as a whole faces.
The whole point of us setting up over here is to get more involved in the WA industry and do what we can as has been the case in Victoria, obviously there will be hurdles but I am here and committed to doing everything we can to lift the profile or racing across all codes and bring in the next generation of racing enthusiasts and owners.

as you have probably found out, WA is VERY parochial (?sic)...I am WA born and bred but had 12 years working in Sydney and found it very difficult to get a foot in back here in perth.....people, business associates did not want a bar of me...I was "an eastern stater". it took years to regain the trust and indeed friendship back here in perth.
I has me stuffed as I was welcomed when I initially arrived in Sydney..a complete stranger to the city both by my new colleagues and people in general.
you, however are perceived as the baddie..and its probably warranted, you are thought of as parasites who suck blood but if some guy sucks yours he is black listed.
is that not true? a true bookie rolls with the punches but you lot just ban the poor winning punter...and please do not say otherwise.
good luck in perth...you'll need it.

I have no answer as to why anything would be removed. If anything I thought I asked the hard question.

I didn't have time to post last night....But you really have a tough time over here @Pink_Blue if you are trying to establish your companies and their values.

This site is predominantly for punters , but covers all aspects of the industry. So many on here have stories of a good winning run followed by a closing or freezing of accounts. You add this to the fact that the companies you represent have been making profits from our product for many years and have provided a very minimal - or in most cases zero - financial return for any aspect of the industry.

So for you to now announce - once our industry has got the staggers - that your here to do all you can to provide for the local punter...pllllllllllleeeeeeeeeasssssse... Too late. The stench of your organisations is so ingrained that unless you proffer massive amounts of money across all racing codes and clubs, you will have no chance..to throw out a few free bets here and there is nothing compared to the money that has been plundered from the West Australian product over many years.

Put up your companies proposals to support the industry - punters, owners, trainers, jockeys, strappers, breeders, etc - and then we'll consider if it is enough to support your efforts...

WA is a tough WA biased market. And cos you come from here, that will only intensify the disdain for your efforts if they don't provide a significant benefit for our industry. The one thing West Australians dislike more than being ripped off by an East Coaster, is being ripped off by an Ex pat that is returning West from the East Coast.

even i can can see why your post was removed and fair enough too.
the thread was about 'punta', not other bookmakers(or should that be accountants in the case of william hill?)

Our thread was ambushed by William hill?

How about not banning WA punters when they have a winning day, care to guarantee that? Then you can have your own thread!

I find it easier to win money from a corporate then it is for my horse to win a race.

I've never received a 2k+ bill from a corporate at the end of the month as well.

I'd like to see racing thrive but I also want good odds.

Actually PINK_BLUE would you give me fixed odds on an unraced pacer for a couple of WA feature races :-c

I'll pitch in for a statue. Getting on shouldnt be the hardest part about gambling.
...and if you're not taking on all comers then how can you be called a bookmaker?
