Bikilia - ATC Derby (2400m)

Interesting to note that there will be a WA representative in the ATC Derby on Saturday - Bikilia - trained by Pat Carey and owned by owner/breeder Trevor Dalroy. Dalroy and Carey have combined to win Group 1s with Ethiopia (ATC Derby in 2012) and Cedarberg (The BMW in 2011), both of these horses were WA bred.

I think Bikila is the outsider to win the Derby but with any WA horse in a Group 1 in the eastern states...........good luck and go well.

Cheers,
PC.

SlipperGolden - saw an article in The West Australian about Bikila, I had no idea it was a WA horse until I read the article (which was released two days ago). Anyway it was a great run to come from behind to get 4th. Hopefully this horse improves in the spring and beyond. Could be a handy stayer in the making.

A horse I tried to buy last month, Ruling Dynasty, also had a good run for a staying prospect of the future. He looks an out and out two miler at this stage.

Ruling Dynasty ran ok, I guess didnt make a lot of ground in the end but the run was respectable, I think the Cummings team have a good opinion of the horse and perhaps the Derby was "too much - too soon" but the horse hopefully will improve during the spring.

Just looking at the replay again - Bikila's finish style as his galloping action reminds me a lot of a raw/immature Rogan Josh when he first started racing as a 4-year-old. I don't know to explain it and maybe no one else can see the similarity but it's just similiar to Rogan Josh.
