Glenn Smith makes history?

West Australian Racing
Surely Glenn Smith has made history today in Kalgoorlie.Arguably the third best rider in the state, restricted by his weight and the only male jockey to ride at a meeting.
5 rides-2 wins-2 seconds and a 4th..I was onto it early and reaped the rewards,
Can't think of another instance where a jockey has had the jockey's room to themselves.
I hope it continues.

You have got to be kidding. If he is the third best why is he in Kal to get a winner? He is one of the jockeys that puts me off backing a horse.

That stat as the only male jockey is a great one. It seems as though WA has produced the most female jockeys over the years. Can anyone supply correct stats on that?

Take your pick but it wouldn't be your nomination.

Little Boy Blue? Is that a form of brickbat Britbat?

You obviously don't follow the gallops boy blue but they say you learn something everyday.
I based my comment on the latest % statistics..winners to rides
    W.Pike--26%
    G Smith--16.5%
    Lucy--16.2%
    P.Carbery--14.3%
P.Harvey is not in the top 20.Quite astounding really

A winner and two seconds from 4 selections today. No I don't follow the gallops.

You tell me 'You learn something every day'. Allow me to teach you something today then. Smith's win percentage is bolstered by Albany and Kalgoorlie winners. On average rides a winner a month in town. You really think that makes him the third best? For me it does not.

By the way going on the stats you have quoted Smith is the second best jockey which we all know is not believable.

It's not that simple. Carey could help here. It really should be number of winners as a % of expected winners.

I didn"t start this thread as a tribute to Glenn Smith but Boy Blue (sometimes we all hide behind masks to protect ourselves)seems to think i did.
I think it's fair to say Smith rides at Kalgoorlie because he struggles to ride under 57kg.Never the less he rides well.
Do they love you or the mask you put on everyday

Most forum contributors (not just this forum) use pseudonyms and avatars. Britbrat isn't your real name. The mask reference appears irrelevant.

No one has said you started this as a Glenn Smith tribute thread. Indeed I complimented you on highlighting the Smith v Ladies Kalgoorlie meeting. Though not stated by me previously I think your comment regarding his weight issue makes sense.

With all due respect Britbrat all I have done is disagree with your (in my opinion) generous rating of him as the third best rider. I also indicated he puts me off a horse but don't we all have jockeys in that category even though at times it can cost us dearly. Others on here clearly highlight the ones they avoid.. Whiting and Carberry get a fair mention from others. But then on the other side of the coin there are jockeys some love.... one contributor Dungy (also not his real name) is besotted with Pike :x :x Dungy has a sense of humour he won't mind being named and shamed on this thread.:D

One other point. Why do you call me Little Boy Blue? That hurts. Big Boy Blue is more accurate.;)
